"Hey guys," I say as I walk up to my two best friends Adam and Kyla. They're stood in front of my locker talking about God only knows what. Sometimes I question their sanity.

"Hey Rea," greets Kyla when I reach where they're standing.

"Hello my crazy best friend," says Adam as he greets me with a little side hug. And cue the butterflies. I've always kind of had a thing for Adam. The only other person that knows is Kyla. I'd die if anyone else ever found out, especially him. I'm pretty sure he doesn't feel that way about me, and that would make for a pretty awkward friendship and I really do not want to screw that up.

"So what are we doing today?" I ask as I grab the necessary things for my morning classes out of my locker.

"We could hit the mall later and then maybe see a movie." Kyla suggests. "It's Friday so it's not like any of us have anything better to do." She says.

"A movies sounds good to me." I reply. "Adam?"

"Sure," he answers. "Well I gotta get to class so I'll see you guys at lunch. Bye Rea," Adam stutters awkwardly. What was that all about?

"Rae when are you ever gonna tell Adam that you like him?" Kyla asks as we're walking lunch.

"Ky, we've been over this, how many times do I have to tell you that I'm never going to tell him unless he says it first. And I'm pretty sure he won't because he doesn't like me like that," I explain for the millionth time. "I'm not ruining a perfectly good friendship over a petty little crush."

"Oh, honey, I think we both know that this is more than just a 'little crush,' " she protests sarcastically.

"Shut up." I mutter.

"But still, that's what you always say." She protests. "And you also don't know if he likes you or not. He might, but you never know until you ask." She's always trying to convince me to tell him, but it's not happening anytime soon.

"Well if you're so convinced then why don't you ask him yourself?" I retorted. "You know it's actually a win-win situation; you get to find out if he likes me since your just dying to know, and if he does like me back, then I finally get a boyfriend," I chuckle.

"Alright fine, I'll ask him at lunch then," she says. "You can just go to the bathroom or something and I'll ask him then," She suggests.

"Ky, I was kidding. I already know he doesn't like me that way. I don't need you to ask him," I try to convince her.

"Have you ever asked him?" She questions.

"Well no, but I know he doesn't like me like that," I argue. There's just no way that he does. I mean, he might flirt with me a little bit, but it's just because we're really close friends. But he most definitely doesn't like me in the same way that I like him.

"I'm still going to ask him later," she states with a smirk.

"Whatever," I say as we sit down at our usual table in the cafeteria.

Adam sits down just as I look at Kyla to see her subtly winking at me telling me that she's going to ask him whether I like it or not. I slightly shake my head in hopes to convince her not to say anything but I know that it's hopeless. No amount of pleading is going to keep her from doing something once she's made up her mind. Kyla is defiantly one of the most stubborn people I know.

"Reagan, why don't you go check your make up or something. Adam and I need to have a private conversation," she says, as she winks at me.

"Whatever," I say as I walk away. Adam shoots me a worried glance, and as he realizes that I know exactly what she's about to interrogate him about, he silently mouths the words "help me." I shrug in response and walk away to find a discrete hiding place so I can hear the conversation.
