"She's in a coma," The man I came to recognize as Dr. Reynolds explained my apparent situation to Kyla. She must be worried sick. I can almost see her pained expression as the doctor fills her in.

"You can talk to her if you want. She might be able to hear you through her coma," he explained.

"She can hear me?" Kyla wondered.

"Well like I said, we're not really sure but she could," He told her. "Every coma patient is different, so it's hard to really know anything for sure," he explained.

"Do you think she'll remember me? You said there was a lot of damage to her brain and nerve cells right?" Kyla asked.

"Well she is expected to make a full recovery but we're not quite sure what memories will be intact when she wakes up." He told her.

I heard Kyla sit down next to me and grab my hand. I tried as hard as I could to squeeze back, to let her know I was there, but I don't know if she could feel it. She didn't seem to notice it.

Kyla talked to me about how she was doing and how Adam was doing, although I still can't remember who this Adam person is. She says that he's in love with me and that I was in love with him before the accident, but I don't remember any of it.

Kyla talked about how high school was going but I don't remember us ever being in high school at all so none of that makes sense either.

I've heard people saying that I'm sixteen but my latest memory is in eighth grade when I was still fourteen.

There's also an unfamiliar voice that's come to talk to me a lot too. I assume that it's this Adam person that I keep hearing about, since he's the only voice that I don't recognize and Kyla talks to me about him a lot. He says that he really misses my beautiful smile and he wishes that I would just wake up already.

I wish I would too.

When I look around all I can see is a black tunnel. Except that there's this one little spot at the end where there's light. I keep trying to run toward it, to reach it but it just keeps getting further away. But this time I'm running and its actually starting to get closer. I can feel my eyes fluttering and my hands twitching. I finally rip my eyes open and grip the bed as I take a sharp breath in.

The first thing I see is a bright flash of white. I look around and I see all the hospital monitors. I have a needle in my right arm providing what assume is some sort of IV. There's a window to my right and I can see the city. There's a tv in the corner next to the window. A glass of water was left on the night stand beside the bed. A boy is sat in one of chairs by the bed. His nose is red and his eyes are puffy like he's been crying. His eyes are an icy blue and his hair is long and swept to the side a little bit. He almost looks familiar but I'm not sure why. I call out to him,

"Hello?" I say.

He gasps. "Oh my god, Rea you're awake!" He exclaims. "Uhh... hold on I'll go get a doctor," he says as he runs out the door to get a doctor I assume.

He comes back with who I presume is the doctor. The doctor introduces himself as Dr. Reynolds and explains my situation. He says I have a concussion, my left leg is broken, and I had some minor internal bleeding that was cleaned up a few days ago in surgery. He checks my vital signs and tells me that everything is looking okay for right now. He says that they just want to keep me for a about another week or so to make sure everything heals properly and then I can go home. He leaves me and this gorgeous mystery boy by our selves to check on another patient.

The boy speaks, "Rea, how are you feeling?" He asks me.

"I feel okay. I mean it's not like I was just in a huge car crash or anything, so you know I'm alright." I reply sarcastically. He laughs at this and his little chuckle was slightly attractive. If that makes any sense anyway.

"That is a valid point." He chuckles again.

"Yep," I reply. "So, what do you want to talk about? Because I really don't want to talk about anything to do with my accident."

"Yeah, that makes sense," he says. "How 'bout we play would you rather?" He suggests.

"Okay. You go first."

"So, would you rather eat frog legs or spider legs? "

I gag a little, "okay eww, but probably spider legs. I feel like they just wouldn't really taste like anything," I reply. "So would you rather only be able to whisper or only be able shout when you have to say something?"

"I don't know." He puts a hand under his chin in a mock thinking face. "Hmm. I'd say whisper, but what if I get kid napped or something. Then I wouldn't be able to yell for help." He chuckles again.

I guess I can see why I would've fallen for him. "Well in the event that kidnapping wasn't a thing and it doesn't exist, which would you rather do?" I counter with a small giggle.

"I guess I'd have to say whisper then." He says thoughtfully. "Okay no offense but this is getting kind of boring, Rea."

"Yeah, I know," I say. "It's getting late anyways. You should go home and get some rest. You look like you need it."

He lets a small laugh. " Yeah you're probably right. Good night, Rea."

"Hey wait a sec. I never caught your name."

He turns and looks at me with pain in his eyes. "I'm Adam."
