7| The Kindly-Ones aren't so kind
It didn't take Y/N very long to pack up considering he didn't even come to camp with much besides the skin on his back. He also decided on leaving his Manticore stinger at home. Which left him a toothbrush and an extra change of clothes the twins had gotten for him.
Chiron gave Annabeth, Y/N and Percy each a canteen of nectar and a Ziploc bag full of ambrosia squares, to be used only in emergencies, if anybody had gotten seriously hurt. It was God food,
Chiron reminded them. "It will cure you of almost any injury, but it's lethal to mortals. Too much of it will make a half-blood very, very feverish. An overdose would burn you up, literally."
Fun.
Annabeth was bringing her magic Yankees cap, which she told Y/N had been a twelfth-birthday present from her mom. She carried a book on famous classical architecture, written in Ancient Greek, to read when she got bored, and a long bronze knife, hidden in her shirt sleeve.
"That thing won't get us busted if we won't go through a metal detector?" Y/N asked her.
"I'm a daughter of Athena, Y/N. We'll be fine." She responded to which Y/N shrugged his shoulders and thought "She hasn't done anything stupid yet."
Grover wore his fake feet and his pants to pass as human. He wore a green rasta-style cap, because when it rained his curly hair flattened and you could just see the tips of his horns. His bright orange backpack was full of scrap metal and apples to snack on. In his pocket was a set of reed pipes his daddy goat had carved for him, even though he only knew two songs: Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 12 and Hilary Duff's "So Yesterday," both of which sounded pretty bad on reed pipes.
"Hey, Y/N!" Pollux called out, jogging up to Y/N followed by Castor. "We just got a baby brother. So try not to die, okay?"
Y/N chuckled. "Eh. I'll do my best." he said with a grin.
"Be safe out there, Y/N. You already kicked Pollux's butt so I'm sure you'll be okay." Castor says with a smirk, softly elbowing his twin's arm.
"I let him win that."
Castor and Y/N would stare at each other and laugh until the three of them pulled into a three-way hug before Y/N went back to catch up with his group.
After catching up with them, they all waved good-bye to the other campers, took one last look at the strawberry fields, the ocean, and the Big House, then hiked up Half-Blood Hill to the tall pine tree that used to be Thalia, daughter of Zeus.
Chiron was waiting for them in his wheelchair. Next to him stood a dude who looked a lot like a surfer, according to Grover, the guy was the camp's head of security. He supposedly had eyes all over his body so he could never be surprised. Today, though, he was wearing a chauffeur's uniform, so Y/N could only see extra peepers on his hands, face and neck.
"This is Argus," Chiron told them. "He will drive you into the city, and, er— well, keep an eye on things."
Then, they heard footsteps behind them.
Luke came running up the hill, carrying a pair of basketball shoes and Silena followed close behind him.
"Hey!" he panted. "Glad I caught you."
Annabeth blushed and when Y/N noticed, he instinctively rolled his eyes which caught the attention of Silena who snickered to herself at the jealous action.
"Just wanted to say good luck," Luke said "And I thought ... um, maybe you could use these."
He gave Percy the sneakers, that in all honesty looked pretty normal.
