CLEO

I woke up feeling awfully groggy. My head hurts and my stomach doesn't feel right. I stood up from my bed before walking to my fridge like a mindless zombie. I took the last coke in can I found and chugged it.

Everyone have their ways in dealing with their hangovers, mine's different. Instead of a hangover soup or some supplements I can go by drinking a carbonated drink. Masama nga lang kasi umagang-umaga pero. . .

"Yo, I overslept!" I exclaimed, but I wasn't that shock anymore. Well, sanay naman ako magpuyat. Paunahan na lang sa pagtagos gano'n.

I went to the side table near my bed where I found my phone. The moment I unlocked it, I received 69 messages and 31 missed calls. Kumunot ang noo ko when it came from the same person.

I was about to toss my phone on the bed when it suddenly rang.

"What it is, hoe? What's up? Every good girl needs a little thug." Imbis sagutin ay nakikanta na lang muna ako hoping that the call would end.

"Every block boy needs a little love. If he put it down, Imma pick it up, up, up. . ."

"What it is, hoe? What's-" I rolled my eyes and answered it.

"Why? What's wrong?" Walang gana kong tanong habang humihikab.

"Anong what's wrong? Nagka-short circuit ba utak mo at nakalimutan mong may meeting ngayon sa NSRC?" Napakamot na lang ako ng noo ko.

"May hangover ka kaya ka late 'no?" I heard her clicking her tongue on the other side of the phone and she's probably shaking her head.

That's odd. I was told that the engineer we would be collaborating with takes his job seriously. Mapili ito sa mga projects or collaboration na tinatanggap but once he set his mind to it, he works proficiently.

That's why the head of National Science Research Center (NSRC) kept reminding me not to test his patience and be on my best behavior at all times because he had a quirky personality. Kaya naman napaka impossible na hindi siya sumipot sa meeting knowing it was planned two weeks beforehand.

"Did he made you wait there for hours?" tanong ko. The meeting was supposed to be eight o'clock in the morning ending around ten.

"No, the Quality Assurance Engineer went there and explained the details about the project. Since the project proposal you made was flawlessly written, there's really nothing more to discuss about it." Tumango-tango na lang ako.

I spent two months writing that project proposal. In my case, I just did it because I was also bored.

Well, I guess that's okay.

"What else is there that I need to know?"

My eyes almost turned into a flat line.

What the hell?
