Damon
PART THREE: The cousins' wrath
Two cousins who anonymously hate each other when they could rule the world. I exaggerated, they just don't get along well. Damien and Rosalina were complicated cousins, they were almost the same. They argue most of the time and it ends with Damien giving up because he respects Rosalina too much, or it ends with Rosalina stealing his Black Amex Card and going on a perfume, heels of clothes shopping spree.
I am supposed to defend my son, but I'll stick to Rosalina, she is the only one that has maturity in that friend group of theirs. "Damien Lars, I am going to stab you with my Saint Laurent heels if you keep lecturing me, Mama, Daddy, a little help here?" She drank her soda.
"Damien, give her a break." Jaxon glared at him, secretly smirking.
"Why give my pretty cousin a break when I can annoy her, she started it."
"Ew, I know Im pretty but as your cousin, a little boundaries here. Uncle Damon, a little help from you?" Rosalina plead. Before I could tell Damon to leave his little cousin alone, Valentina and Adeline walked in, their smiles fading when they walked in. "Man, if I were a guy in the street and I saw both of you cuties walking, I'd catcall and have a huge obsession with you guys, y'all are hot." We all turned to Rosalina when she blurted that. She spent too much time with Avery.
"Were sixteen, why would we be out in the first place?" Valentina laughed.
Rosalina shrugged. Adeline opened her mouth to say something she seemed excited about until Bridget walked in, interrupting her. "I am so done with Law school, but I got a ninety-nine on my quiz!" She exclaimed, jumping up and down.
"We get it, you're smart, but your little sister was talking you ignorant bit--" I glared at Damien before he called her that.
Valentina stood up, followed by Adeline. "This is why we don't sit with you guys, I'm sorry Bridget, but I'm not letting my best friend be your shadow, I'm sick of seeing you as the golden child, now, leave your pretty girl, dull, spoiled, bithy personality at law school, don't spread it around us." Valentina pulled Adeline who was widening her eyes, telling Valentina to stop.
Rosalina lightened the mood with her words. "At least she called you pretty, and I think I want another pair of sandals, muah, Bye daddy, Mommy, uncles, and family! And a tip for you Bridget, as your best friend, you kinda are a bitch, but it's fine because we both are, except I'm a hotter and nicer version." Rosalina left silence behind her.
We, adults, stayed silent, we didn't want to interfere in their arguments because they always forgave each other. "Told you, you're going to end up alone," Damien smirked at Bridget.
"One more word and I will tell Uncle Damon what you did two weeks ago." What the fuck did he do?
Valentino stormed into the living room, his arms crossed and he was targeting Bridget since his glare was on her. "Here to defend your girlfriend?" Christian asked with a fake pout. "She's not his girlfriend." Grayson rolled his eyes.
"She's my girlfriend, my best friend, and all the above. Look, Miss Perfect, time to accept the fact that you're nothing but petty, you have no shame. Leave Adeline fucking alone, keep interrupting her, and I will fucking expose your dirty, filthy side to your parents on what happened in June, you were eighteen. Keep haunting your sister, and I'll keep haunting your past. I think I made my point fucking clear, sorry for the cursing. I play fair, just don't expect me to play nice." That seemed to shut Bridget up, it was like she was hiding something, that was only between the children.
"I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world." Avery sang, laying on Alessio.
"See you later, Bye Mama. I'm heading boxing." Christian kissed Avery's cheek.
I lifted my phone after I got a text message, it was from Grayson who was in the same fucking room as me.
Talk to Bridget privately, she will listen to you and she can't put an attitude with you. Be a little serious.
I hesitated for a moment until Marcella placed her hand on my lap, she nodded, telling me to do it. I kissed her palm and I stood up. "Bridget, we need to talk." It came out harsher than intended, she instantly stood up, biting her lip as she followed me upstairs into my office.
I opened the door for her and I let her slide in, taking a seat on the leather couch. I leaned in against the desk and watched her intently, I could feel her nervousness, which was understandable.
"I talk, you listen, I ask a question, you answer," I demanded.
She nodded. "How old are you, Bridget." I knew how old she was, but this was a conversation and she needed to be reminded how old she was and how mature she could be.
"Twenty-two," She whispered.
I nodded. "Should I be formally talking or should I talk plainly and straight forward?"
"You can talk straight forward, I'd prefer that."
"Then stop getting grudges, you go to law school, you go shopping, you have friends, you have family, and you get allowances from everyone in your family. Isn't that enough?" I didn't r to lower my voice, I spoke loud and clear.
Bridget looked down, her hands clutching the armrests. "You may have a pretty privilege, you may be smart, you may be perfect but not everything is about that, have pride, have dignity. Pushing other people down to get you where you want to go isn't the solution."
"Let me guess you favor Adeline too?" She rolled her eyes.
I shook my head. "Look, sweetheart. I'm your uncle, we're bound by family. I don't favor any fucking one. Don't use your attitude on me, use it on anyone but believe me when I say I don't take attitude from anyone. And for a fact, I'm trying to make this mansion home, if you don't get your act up, I'm cutting you off." I didn't mean to curse sometimes you got to keep the kid in line.
"You can't cut me off, my Dad or Mom wouldn't allow you to."
"I am Capo, I am the leader of New York, I own all banks and I own everywhere, stay on track, go apologize to your sister, now." I extended my hand for her to take.
She nodded and placed her hand in mine, pulling herself up from the couch. "You're just like your son's, one day we will have to pay for our father's sins. You and your kids have some darkness in you, even Valentina."
"My genes pass on, and aren't we all victims of the Sins of the fathers?
Bridget's mouth twitched and she nodded. "Maybe, we will see which one of us pays for your sins, could it be Valentina, Adeline, Rosalina, or Valentino? Christian and Damien have their tricks, but don't you think we would be blamed? And you guys have made many enemies."
"We protect our family, if anyone gets caught up in a mess, we help them. This generation disgusts me if I'm being honest, when we were your guys' ages, we saved each other and we were there for each other." I shrugged.
A light scoff escaped her mouth. "You guys protect twistedly."
"I think you haven't seen your dad's, nor any of your uncles' dark sides, you think were so twisted, but you haven't seen anything Bridget, and for your good, stay away from that darkness."
Bridget furrowed her eyebrows. "I'm going to go talk to Addie, Bye." She tried to practically run out of the room, I realized I had scared her, pulling her wrist, and she stopped in front of me.
"Come here, kid." I pulled her into my embrace, placing my hand on her hair as she hugged me. "I promise I'll fix it, I'm going to take her out to dinner, and I'll her to a ballet event." She muttered.
"Good, and I'm proud of you." I kissed her forehead.
Let's see if I can keep this family going, because all of us: Jaxon, Grayson, Alessio, and I have some horrible sins and enemies, with our kids growing up, what is a better target than that? Especially the two young ones, Valentina and Adeline would be perfect victims to our enemies, young, naive, and innocent. And I am going to fucking kill whoever hurts them.
