Planet of Drones (Sonic meets Murder Drones)

Chapter 4: Heartbeat

A few days after the battle with J and V, Sonic sat in front of a lit fireplace, watching as the flames danced while two rocks, presumably ones he used to start the fire, laid next to the fireplace, the flames' glow illuminating the rest of the living room of the house he and Shadow found a little ways away from the murder drone's place. Sonic glanced over, seeing Shadow standing in the doorway, arms crossed and red gaze fixated on the chilly winter night, the ebony hedgehog not even shivering in the slightest.

"You don't have to be acting like a guard dog Shadow, Uzi and the others won't bug us." Sonic said to Shadow.

Shadow however, remained silent, like he had been since they showed up. Sonic sighed, it had been hard getting a single word out of Shadow, and the boredom of a lack of any conversation was nipping at him like tiny bugs. 'Better that I'm stuck with him rather than no one at all from the same world as me.' Sonic thought.

"Why did you take off?" Shadow asked, in a low tone that Sonic almost hardly heard him, the blue hedgehog looking up to see Shadow still looking outside.

"Uzi was being chased by N before he switched sides, I had to try to help her." Sonic replied.

"You do realize they're still robots." Shadow said.

"I'm well aware, but these robots are like humans. They can feel emotions, mental, physical, and emotional pain, and even die." Sonic replied, standing on his feet.

Shadow turned to Sonic, his look stern, but Sonic spotted a hint of worry as well. "They still attacked us."

"J and V did." Sonic reminded Shadow. "So, what's your point?" He asked him.

"They're not to be trusted. Especially that purple one with the weapon." Shadow replied.

"I'm sure Uzi isn't that bad. Well, minus the whole wanting humans to die part, but I'm sure we can convince her otherwise, you were in her place with wanting humans dead too after what they did to you." Sonic said.

Shadow glared and dashed out of the place, leaving Sonic behind. Sonic sighed, and went after Shadow, the falling snow making it difficult to see clearly, and his ear twitched as he heard a distant conversation. 'Guess Shadow will have to wait.' Sonic thought. Getting curious, Sonic headed towards the noise, halting as he saw Uzi and N talking with one of the worker drones that J almost murdered, the worker drone a male and wearing a hat on his head. 

"That one friend of yours, you know, the one that black creature blasted. Well, her body looked like it crawled away when I came in with some others to clean it up." The worker drone reported, earning a confused look from Uzi while N glanced around fearfully. 

"Crawled away?" Sonic asked, walking up to them, making all three robots jump. 

"Nice seeing you too Sonic." Uzi grumbled. "But yes, J's body crawled away like Thad said." she told him.

"Maybe she has some kind of program that had her self-repair herself? I saw a lot of robots do that back on Earth." Sonic replied. 

"I guess we're about to find out. You'll need your rale gun too." Thad said, handing Uzi the weapon Sonic saw her wielding on the day he and Shadow first arrived on the planet. 

"Thanks. Now let's go." Uzi replied and headed off. 

Sonic, Thad, and N all followed, the murder bot then glancing over at him. 

"Hey Sonic, where's your boyfriend?" N asked.

"My what?!" Sonic replied, startled to the point of his quills ruffling like a cat's fur rising when its concerned for its health or in battle mode.
