Jen's POV

I walked up the driveway of my new neighbors house. When I'd gotten home my mom told me we were going here for dinner, which was probably best considering we haven't unpacked the table yet. We've been eating on the floor in front of the television. I walked up the drive and rang the doorbell with my left hand. My right hand was occupied by a cherry pie I'd made for them. I just hope they like it. I want to be a chef when I grow up but my cooking skills need work.

When the door finally opened I saw Phoebe, the nice girl from school. "Jen!" she said. "Phoebe! Wow, I didn't know we were neighbors." I said. "Me neither. Come on in." she said holding the door open for me and my parents. "Sandra, so glad you could make it!" a woman with brown hair said, whom I could only presume was Mrs. Thunderman. "Barb, hi. This is my husband Boomer and our daughter." mom said. "Hi I'm Jennifer." I said holding out my hand. She looked taken aback. I wore a confused look on my face. She collected herself and held her hand out, "I'm sorry. Jennifer is just a sensitive name for me." she said shaking my hand. Phoebe looked confused. "Well, dinner isn't quite ready. And-" a heard a wail from upstairs, "oh no. Phoebe would you go get Chloe." Mrs. Thunderman said. Chloe, why did that name seem so familiar? Phoebe nodded and started to head up. "Here I'll come with you I'm great with babies." I said. Phoebe excitedly nodded. I began to run upstairs when I remembered the pie in my hand. "Oh, Mrs. Thunderman. Here I made this for you and your family. It's a healthy low fat no preservatives cherry pie." I said. She took it gratefully. "Thank you. Just don't say anything or my husband will eat it before anyone can touch it." she said. I ran upstairs with Phoebe.

Phoebe's POV

i answered the door and came face to face with Jen. I looked behind her and her parents were there. Wow, they looked nothing like Jen Mr. Light had white hair, and Mrs. Light had a very bleach blonde look. And since when is Jennifer a sensitive name for mom? Oh well. I'm so happy that Jen is my friend now. I ran upstairs and started comforting Chloe. "Hey. Wow, your parents look nothing like you." I said. She gave a light hearted laugh, "well that's because I'm adopted. My biological parents died in a car accident when I was a baby." she explained. My eyes widened in horror, she seemed to understand and shook her hands out. "No no no it's fine. I never knew my parents." she said. I nodded and we headed down for dinner.

Mom made her famous lasagna. Jen just sort of stared at it and rubbed her hands together. I looked at her confused. "I love lasagna." she explained. I nodded in understanding and proceeded to eat.
