I burst through the door with anger tearing through me.

My parents were sitting at the dining room table sipping coffee and turned with shock on their faces.

"Raina are you ok?" My mom said standing up and reaching towards me.

"Yeah I'm fine." I lied.

I really wasn't fine.

I had just spent the entire day working on something for my mom only for it to completely fall apart a few minutes ago.

Her birthday was TOMORROW and I wanted nothing more than to give her something special and personal.

My mom finally reached me and pulled me into a warm hug and I relaxed my wings to allow her slim arms to reach around me.

She was still just a little taller than I was and her hair was a lighter brown.

The only real difference from her was my eyes.

Mine were a blue hazel with gold around my irises and her were more of a dark brown.

I know they aren't my real parents however, they made me who I am and despite never having enough money or the true ability to let me live like a normal kid, I loved them so much.

Glancing over moms shoulder I looked at my dad, he nodded his head at me, coffee still in hand.

I told him about the vanity I was building mom.

She always admired the women in magazines with fancy vanities full of their makeup and beauty products, but she never deemed herself worthy enough to save money for one.

Instead, she always put her money towards the family and people who needed it.

Every Christmas she would take a special trip to the orphanage to give each child a few dollars and told them that one day she hopes they could find a way to return kindness to someone else who needs it.

Mom finally let go and kissed my cheek.

"Thanks mom. I'm going to give it another try, be back in later." I said with a warm smile turning back towards the door.

"Do you need help?" She asked stepping towards her coat on the rack.

"No, no. I need to do this on my own." I said with reassurance and a hint of determination in my voice.

She smiled and nodded.

With that I bolted out the door and took off towards the shed.
