Ellie's POV
We watched as Jordyn slowly started to doze off, eventually falling into a deep slumber. "What happened?" I whispered to Hayley as I held onto Jordyn. "Well, it seems like family isn't a good topic for her, I don't know why, but we just need to be wary of it." She replies looking at the girl sadly. "Let her sleep, I don't think she really slept last night." Hayley says. I nod, going to put her down but she grabs onto me tightly. "No...." She mumbles.
"Doesn't look like she wants to let go." Hayley chuckles. I nod. "I guess I'll just stay here with her.". "You don't have to El." Hayley says. "I will," I say looking at Jordyn. "It seems like she needs somebody right now." I say. "What room are you in?" Hayley asks quietly as Jordyn stirs slightly. "I'm with Teags." I say, Hayley nods getting up and walking to the door. "Make sure she sleeps." She says walking out.
I look down at Jordyn. "That should be easy." I whisper.
Jordyn stays asleep the entire night, well, almost. At 5 I'm woken up by movement coming from Jordyn. "NOOOOOO!" She screams making me sit up immediately, her body is thrashing around in her bed. "STAY AWAY!" She screams again. I rush over in an instant trying to calm her down. I grab her shoulder trying to wake her up but that backfires as her hand comes over and hits me in the face. "Shit!" I curse falling backwards, this causes her to wake up.
Jordyn looks around breathing heavily, her eyes soften when she sees me on the floor with a hand on my face where she hit me.
"Ellie?" She says surprised, I nod. "Help, please..." She cries. I stand up and move over to her grabbing her hand softly. "What's wrong?" I ask as I hold the sobbing girl in my arms. I don't hear the door open, but in walks Sam and Caitlin who are in the room next to us.
I look over to them as Jordyn cries in my chest. 'What happened?' Sam mouths. 'Nightmare' I mouth back holding her as she cries. "Hey, it's ok." I whisper into her ear. "Your here at camp, nobody can hurt you, nobody will hurt you." I say trying to calm her down. I feel her nod slightly as her breathing begins to even out. After a few minutes I can hear her snore softly indicating that she has fallen asleep.
I gently lay her down going to pull away but she clutches on to me still, letting me know that I can't leave. "Why are you here?" Sam asks quietly. "I helped her calm down earlier, it seems she might've had a panic attack... I don't think family is a good topic." I say. Sam and Caitlin nod. "But why are you here?" Caitlin asks. "When she fell asleep the first time she had a hold on to me like she does now and didn't want to let go." I say as I brush away a strand of hair from her face. Sam and Caitlin nod. "Well, get some sleep, you'll need it." Sam says leading the two out of the door, turning the lights out in the process.
I sigh, what are we going to do, this isn't something that can just be solved, it'll require work from the entire team. I think before pulling the covers over both of us, knowing that we need the sleep.
Falling asleep next to the older girl was surprisingly natural, it felt like it was meant to be.
- - -I woke up to the feeling of somebody moving, which is weird, because why are we in the same bed? Then I remembered last night and all of the commotion that happened, and why I was here, in the same bed as Jordyn. "Uhhhhh....." I heard her groan as she started waking up. Her blonde hair was splayed across her face and it was honestly quite cute.
I sat up as she slowly opened her eyes, she had let go of me in her sleep. Her gray eyes were odd, and piercing as they narrowed in on my face. "Ellie? What are you doing here?" She asked groggily. "Oh, well, you were upset, and me and Hayley came in to help you, and you kind of grabbed onto me and wouldn't let go." I say. "I'm sorry..." She apologizes. "Don't apologize, your our teammate, of course we'd help you." I say.
"I do think it is time to get ready, Hayley should come back in a few minutes to get ready." I say standing up. "And remember Jordyn, all of us want to help you, no matter how you feel." I say closing the door. But I do hear a small 'thank you' from her as I walk out, happy that I was able to help.

Training went smoothly today, it was harder than yesterday, and we ended with a 6v6 tournament, I got put on Sam's team and we knew we would win, which was wrong.Caitlin had Jordyn, and holy shit is she good. Any indication that this girl was the one that was crying in my arms last night was gone, she's a completely different person when playing.
"Shit she's good." Sam exhales as we walk off the field, the game ending 0-1, a win for them. I take a sip of my water as I watch them prepare to face the final team. "Yeah, she's good, it was like she was programmed to find the ball." I say to Sam who nods in agreement.
"She doesn't let anything by does she?" Hayley says walking over to me, she looks exhausted from the match. "No she doesn't let anything by." I say as we see Jordyn talking to Mackenzie. Both laughing at something. She stands just taller than our lovely keeper. "Seems like she's getting on well with the team." Hayley says before taking a sip of her water. "I like seeing that, shows she's comfortable around us." Hayley says as Mary walks over joining the two. "Especially when she seems to need it."
- - -"So The Professor, how did it feel playing against us." Hayley says wrapping her arms around Jordyn. I laugh with Hayley as Jordyn blushes from her nickname being used. "Well, it shows that this team has some power behind it, I had trouble with a couple of those saves, especially Sam's shots." She replies, making Hayley and I stop in our tracks, confusing the girl.
"You had trouble? You made everything look normal for you!" Hayaley gasps. "I know! It's like she always knew where the ball is, even when she couldn't see it." I comment. Jordyn chuckles. "It may have looked easy, but it definitely wasn't." She replies walking off. "I think you two just like me to much!" She calls turning around before walking over to Caitlin.
Hayley looks at me. "Want to prank her?" She asks. I smirk, a plan already forming in my head. "Push her into the ice bath?" I ask. Hayley nods, immediately agreeing. "Classic."

I wish that the US didn't tie the Netherlands game, I really wanted the Dutch girls to win, especially after that goal from Jill. But, maybe next time, we look forward.
The Matildas play soon, and I'm incredibly excited.
Thanks for enjoying!
