-Your POV-

"So, Yuri. Did those bandits who we bested yesterday at the arena confess to anything?" I inquired the next morning.

"Not a word," he admits. We were all stationed in the classroom in Abyss, although the three house leaders -- Claude,  Dimitri, and Edegard -- were absent for various reasons, which only made the party a bit smaller in size, and left more room in the somewhat crowded room. "However, one thing is clear. Whoever hired them is after something here in Abyss."

"That's gotta be it," Balthus agrees.

"They were talking about some kinda treasure, right? But what's here in these dingy tunnels?" Hapi adds.

"Aelfric, was it? Looks like this is ringing a bell for you." Linhardt turns to the cleric.

"Ah, yes. Well, something does come to mind, but the notion is preposterous at best." He replies sheepishly.

"Never discount a wild hunch. Sometimes they're closer to the truth than you'd think." Hilda laughs.

"Any lead will do, so long as it helps determine our next course of action. Please, go on." Byleth urges.

"As you wish." He relents. "You see, there is a longstanding legend here. It is said that deep underground, below even Abyss, is a place called the Chasm of the Bound wherein lies the Chalice of Beginnings."

"A chalice?" Ashe asks.

"I've never heard of it, but chances are it's some kind of sacred artifact belonging to the church," Linhardt says.

Aelfric continues his tale, "Quite a while ago, I happened upon several ancient documents. They informed me that the Chalice of Beginnings is a sacred object crafted by the order of Saint Seiros herself. Saint Seiros apparently used the artifact to carry out the Rite of Rising."

"What is the Rite of Rising?" I ask quizzically.

"It is a ritual that is believed to have the power to resurrect a life that was lost," Aelfric says.

A moment of somber silence sweeps over the group as everyone ponders the complexity of such a topic, though all of us have surely known someone who has passed in the tragic past few years, none of us could fathom such a far-fetched tale. Abruptly, Constance remembers something, "Oh, yes, the chalice of legend! My father mentioned it to me a very long time ago. A secret treasure of the church... powerful enough to resurrect the dead... Exhilarating, no?"

"Yeah. It is no wonder that people are after it." Ashe nods in agreement.

Byleth speaks up, "Well until we have something to go off of, we'll have to halt the mission. If anyone happens to stumble upon any clues, report them to me or Aelfric. For now, do as you please. The Abyss is full of secrets I'm sure you can uncover."

"Erm, sure." Aelfric showed subtle signs of discomfort, but I waved it off, promptly leaving the room with others to run amok in the halls of the underground town.

Since I've only been visiting Abyss for a short period, I had only just begun to feel like I wasn't losing my way every time I left a familiar location. After a while of wandering the halls and chatting with merchants, I found my way back to the classroom.
