It was ten pm when Felicity discovered the door. It was in the back of the hallway in which the entrance to her bedroom was and its knob was dusty. It looked unused and ignored, as if it were there for a reason, but wasn't serving its purpose. There were a few marks in the door to show it had been used before, though. The door was all white with a silver handle and an infinity sign near the top of it.

Felicity first noticed the door the night she came back from the Feast of the Queen. Her family was hogging the elevator, so she found the nearest staircase to her room. It looked old and unrenovated and it smelled vintage. After going up a few flights of creaky stairs, Felicity got to the top and saw the door. She could have sworn she heard noises, maybe water, from the other side of it. Curious about what room it could be, Felicity opened the door.

She wasn't in a room. She was outside. There was grass beyond the grass a pond with small boats. Felicity got in one and tried her best to row it to the other side. On the other side of the river, she saw a palace. It was dark except for the nearest room, the ballroom. Felicity recognized the palace from her world history lessons. Eager to see what was happening and to learn how she got there, she walked as fast as she could toward the palace. When she got there, she found a door and went inside.

There was a ball in the palace that night. An orchestra was playing and a band stood off to the side, seeming to be waiting their turn. All of the musicians appeared to be translucent, along with some of the people at the ball. All of the none translucent people appeared to be young, no older than their mid-twenties, and no younger than a tween. All looked regal. Felicity even recognized a few of them but didn't acknowledge her recognition so that she could avoid attention. She just wanted to observe.

As Felicity pushed her way around the ballroom, the big doors opened and a woman walked in. She was average height and had big blue icicle-like fairy wings. Her grey hair was in a bun and she wore a pink dress. By her side were a few guards. The woman made eye contact with Felicity, staring at her curiously. She gestured for her to come closer and Felicity walked over to her.

"Hello, Princess Felicity," she said. "I am Queen Zorana of Nixllapis and I would like to welcome you to the Infinity Ball."
