I somehow manage to get to the library and find myself walking through different racks to get my mind in the right place. I haven't seen Auden in like 5-6 years and how can I be so sure that it's him? My mind is playing tricks on me. It's my first time being in this school after all the things and my mind must seem a lot out of place maybe. Ya, that's it my mind is playing tricks.
And that's when someone calls me from behind and i can hear the clacking sound of heels.
"Hey" she comes running to me and I am taken aback by her hot pink long heels. I wonder how she is running in that.
"Are you new here?"
"mm, yaa today is my first day," I say not sure if she wants anything from me.
"Oh, you have Mr. William the next hour right?" she asks me. And I can see the excitement building up behind her eyes.
"Ya I have Mr. William and I am on my way to class."
"That's great, I will join you. I am Lyla by the way."
"And I am Hazel Archer"
"oh, we are saying last names then. Sorry okay so once again then I am Lyla Anderson" she says cheerfully. and find myself laughing at her goofiness.
"Don't worry Lyla Anderson I have noted your name, wait are you the daughter of the mayor?
"Mmm yes," she says looking a bit disappointed and I hold my urge to ask her if everythings ok. I don't want to scare off my new friend,wait are we even friends?
we reach our class on time and take our seats. I settle myself and start taking notes. I can't wait for this period to get over because next we have a lunch break and I am starving already.
Finally, the bell rings and everyone is rushing towards the cafeteria. As I am about to step into the corridor Lyla pops in front of me and asks me "You going to Cafeteria right?"
"Yes, wanna join?", I ask her and I already know the answer.
We both head to the cafeteria and its so crowded. We take our food and find ourselves table to sit and then another girl comes in and i know that she is Lyla's best friend.
"UUUHH, Mr.Warner holds the record for giving projects, you are lucky if you don't have him" she says to me. "so you new ,here right. I'm Raven by the way"
"nice to meet you I'm Hazel" i say i know Raven is that kind of girl who is more than ready to break a guys nose if they mess with her friends. and i can feel that we three are going to be the inseparable souls that can never stay apart.We find ourself a table and we talk about things and it looks like we all share a lot of things in common. I and Lyla got a thing for all those cringey rom com movies but Raven is more of like a Fast and Furious or like Formula One girl.
I can get a clear few of cafeteria as everyone is settled. "OK, now its time for us to introduce you to THE PEOPLE" Lyla says dramatically as she sees me looking around. Then Raven points to the table rounded by girls with very long legs with crazy long lashes and god knows how many layer of lipstick. "Thats the cheerleader squad or if in our words THE WHORES of Wellsbury high school". Lyla hits her playfully "WHAT?" she says "just look at them" Raven says mockingly.
Lyla points to a table rounded by guys and says that thats where the soccer gang sits. And everyone is pretty build up and handsome. "I used to date Marcus the one with curly hair" Raven says. "What happended" i ask her. "He cheated on me" she says with a tinge of saddness in her eyes. "Im sorry" i say."NO don't be i moved on, its just everyone saw that coming and even Lee i mean LYLA warned me but i somehow trusted him. I am happy that its OVER" she says with her bright smile.
Suddenly every head turn towards that empty table that i noticed. i too look to see what everyones staring at. And then it comes to veiw. its AUDEN and his two friends.
i turn to my friends to ask them who they are even though i know ones Auden. " they are the ones that rule the school" Lyla says with disgust in her voice. "The guy in the middle is AUDEN BLACK the one behind or the one to end every fight. The one to his right is MILES FLINN he is the one who gets hooked up with every girl in the campus except us , of course. Everyone girl gets trapped by his good looks." Raven cuts in by saying " all girls are hooking up with him to get close to AUDEN because he is way more hot than than Miles". "Shhh" Lyla says as she was not happy with Raven cutting her off. Raven passes her a apolegetic look and lyla continues " and the one to his left is MAX COLLIN he is the soccer captain, the bully and the backbone of their friendship".
I turn to look towards their table for just this time and i see Auden staring at me from the corner of his eyes.
