"You shouldn't be here" a firm female voice said, breaking their complete silence. Uzui arched an eyebrow. A woman? How interesting...

"I could say the same thing for you," he said calmly, taking notice of how steady the blade pressed to his neck was. "You've been causing quite the stir, you know? I almost didn't believe you were a demon slayer. The village people think you're a ghost."

"Good," the slayer said curtly. "The less they know, the better. It'll keep them away- I wouldn't do that if I were you, Hashira."

Uzui froze, his hand having moved not 2 centimeters towards his blades. "Hah, you're good. How'd you know I'm a Hashira?"

"The attire isn't very becoming of a lower-rank slayer, only a Hashira would be allowed to dress like that," she said dryly, making him deadpan. "Not to mention how slow your heartbeat is. Any other human would be panicking right now. Why are you here?"

"Very observant," Uzui chuckled, noting the youth in her voice. "We all heard the rumors about the demon killer. Master Ubuyashiki tried to contact you, but none of the crows could find yours. So, I was sent to find you and bring you back to headquarters. Seems as though you completed my first task for me- very flashy!"

The blade shifted slightly. "I know what the Master wants, but I'm not going."

He tilted his head. "So you would defy him? I admire your guts kid, but that's not an option. I have direct orders to bring you back with-"

He was cut off as the slayer suddenly moved in front of him, the tip of her nichirin sword remaining against his throat. Her arm was steady, her breathing still undetectable. He took a moment to observe her- her head slightly lowered, (H/C) hair and a dark hood obscuring her face. Shadows clung to her like a wet haori. Her presence created a void-like silence among the noise of the forest. If he hadn't known any better, he may have mistaken her for a demon. He considered the ramifications of that.

"I'm not going," she repeated. "I have to stay here."

"And why is that?" Uzui said, feeling himself growing slightly agitated at her blatant disregard for his mission. "Surely there is nothing in this cold dark forest that would prevent you from following direct orders."

She was silent for a moment (well, more than usual), before she sighed. "I guess I have to show you then."

Uzui raised an eyebrow. "Show me?"

The slayer finally looked up at him, her sharp (E/C) eyes meeting his. He was surprised by how intense they were, especially for someone so obviously young. How old is she??? he questioned. The other surprising thing was the long claw-like scar that ran from the corner of her left eye to the edge of her jaw. It looked old, but it looked deep. And bad.

"Yeah, if I show you why I can't leave, will you go back to the Master and tell him to leave me alone?" she asked, cutting eyes never leaving his.

Uzui considered this. "I suppose so, if it's a good enough reason, of course. To do that, however, you are going to need to remove the sword."

She glared at him. "Promise me you won't try to capture me by force?"

"I promise," he said with a laugh.

"And you're not going to break that promise?"

He faked offense. "Of course not! That would be very un-flashy of me. You have my word, little slayer."

She considered his words for a moment more before sighing and dropping the blade. Uzui felt his body relax with the absence of the sharp metal on his neck. He shook out his arms before looking back to the girl. "So," he said, smiling, "where to?"
