Chp. 4: Leafpool's Confession

No one's View

Moons have passed. Leafpool was awake finally. Feathertail and Crowfeather were already discussing kits, and Firestar had refused to do anything since he woke up. Brambleclaw was Thunderclan's acting leader.

Crowfeather had ignored Feathertail in watching the sunset to talk to her. It was obvious that he liked Leafpool now to Squirrelflight. 

Feathertail blinked. She was surprised as his mate's speed. 

Leafpool's View

Oh it hurts. I must have been unconsicous. 

'What?' She blinked, then saw a sighing Mothwing and Cinderpelt. 

Cinderpelt literally hugged her, while Mothwing patted her. 

Leafpool glanced outside. Brambleclaw was talking to the other leaders - like equals, almost equals. And Firestar was nowhere to be seen.

'He has more lifes-' she began with worry.

Cinderpelt reassured her with a nod, 'Well, he is briefly retiring until he is sure that you are alright and he calm down.'

Leafpool blinked again. Hang on, Cinderpelt is here. She gained a scratch (maybe a scar) still. 

'Cinderpelt? Oh I am so sorry,' she began quickly, 'I am sad. Feathertail was back and I know Crowfeather would never give up on her. I know I lost a love, even if it was only small and temporary.' 

Leafpool began crying and Cinderpelt sat down. As much as she wants to confront her and tell her to rest, she was interested to know. And what she said had hurt her. 

Mothwing did the job, 'No you rest.'

However, Leafpool ignored her, 'I am sorry. I hope to break more romance so I felt like someone is in the same shoes as me.'

'Firestar is,' Cinderpelt responded softly. Feathertail and Crowfeather were behind her, 'That was what you want, right?'

'Oh, I am sorry, Cinderpelt,' Leafpool shook her head. 'You were a brilliant mentor to me and being mad shouldn't have made me do that.'

Cinderpelt tensed. What was she going to say?

Leafpool continued, 'I-I was targeting you the whole time 'cause we were similar. Crowfeather and Feathertail, Firestar and Sandstorm. Both of us lost our love battle, and I was trying to make you feel worse to make us equal.'

Cinderpelt froze and Mothwing commanded, 'Get rest!'

'But,' Leafpool complained, 'I just woke up from a moon of sleep and now I have to sleep again?' 

Mothwing sighed. She had to admit, she was trying to do that for Cinderpelt. With that, she drove the frozen limping she-cat outside.
