“There wouldn’t be a sky full of stars if we were all meant to wish on the same one…”-Frances Elliott Clark
Aurora twirled her raven hair with her fingers, letting it twist around her hand. She stood from her small desk she was stationed at, and gathered all of her books. Shoving them messily in her bag,she walked to the large glass doors of the library, nodding to the librarian and walking out, letting the door slam behind her.
She slunk down the hallway with the large number of other students, impatiently waiting to get to their next class. She shoved herself close to the wall, trying to avoid being hit by large, heavy bags and arms swinging.
Aurora and many others would say that she was shy and always tried to shrink in on herself. She lived her best life when no one noticed her. Though she made an effort to be polite and kind to everyone she encountered. If she was being honest she only had 2 real, true friends that she could trust to help her.
Most people never knew her or recognized her name, and Aurora wanted to keep it that way. That's how it always was, she was hidden in the back, keeping herself small and tiny, unnoticeable.
The blue-eyed girl let her eyes wander across the hallways, trying to find the fastest way to get to her next class. Arguably her least favorite class, though she would never voice her distaste of the class. She found a lee-way in the crowd of students, she linked through the opening.
She stopped in front of the room labeled 1313. Science, specifically astrology. It was just something she never enjoyed, finding no reason to study space or stars. There was no reason as to why she needed to learn it, if she was never going to use the information in the future.
Aurora found her way to the back of the classroom, dragging herself into the chair. She dropped her black bag onto the white tiled floor, and opened the zipper. She grabbed a large blue notebook and a black pen. Now she just had to wait for the teacher and announcements to come on. She looked off towards the tan bricked walls, waiting for her only friend to show up.
A girl with bright blond hair plopped next to her, taking up the whole table space with her bag. The girl groaned when she grabbed her unnecessarily heavy and large bag on the floor. Her blond hair flicked when she turned her whole body towards Aurora.
“Hey Aurora! How's your day been so far?” The girl said happily, practically vibrating in her chair. Aurora shrinked under the attention, glancing over at the girl.
“Hi Mira, It’s been fine.” Aurora whispered, leaning her body towards the blondie. Before Mira could even respond the bell was going off, with the teacher walking into the room already on a rant about something.
Whilst the teacher was talking, Aurora took notes in her notebook. While she doesn't really care for the class, she still cares about her grades. Aurora often found herself looking at the large windows, the clouds looked super fluffy.
When the bell signaled the class was over, the students in the class immediately started collecting and bagging their belongings. Aurora also did the same, placing the blue notebook and any other supplies she used in her black bag. She stood up from her chair, throwing her book bag on her back.
Aurora waited for most of the students to get out of the class, with Mira right beside her. The teacher had went on a strange rant, about her home life in relation to the stars?
She moved towards the doorway, breaching the opening. “Well that was something.”Mira groaned. Aurora silently agreed with her, the class was rather boring.
Though Auror was glad it was the last period of the day, she walked against the wall, with Mira talking her ear off. Aurora followed the routine of finding her locker, putting her books away. “Whoa, Aurora look at that!” Mira squealed, tugging on the sleeve of her sweatshirt.
“What?” Aurora questioned, turning her head in the direction that Mira was pointing. In that direction there was a banner that held the junior prom theme for the year. It was stars and galaxy themed. “Really?” Aurora groaned, feeling dread fill her body. She really couldn’t escape astrology class.
“Hey! I think it could be a great theme. It seems fun!” Mira grin was spread across her face, she leaned heavily on Aurora’s shoulder.
“I think it sounds like a dreaded idea.” Aurora hushed, shrugging Mira off her shoulder, ruining Mira’s little day dream.
“Well, I think it sounds like an awesome idea!” Mira giggled, opening her locker next to her own, shaving her bag in. “Time to get going huh?” Mira sagged down.
Aurora hummed, walking towards the large glass that was wide open. She walked through them, heading towards her car.
“Bye, Mira.” Aurora said in Mira’s direction.
“You're already saying bye? We're not even close to our cars!” Mira gasped, bringing a hand up to her forehead. Aurora raised an eyebrow at her, her lips twitching into a smirk.
“Yes, I am. Bye Mira.” Aurora said, walking a little faster. She could hear Mira sputtering and whispering under her breath. Though she pretends not to.
"Fine! Call me tomorrow, yeah?" Mira yelled, and caused other students to look at her. Aurora hummed and waved at her while walking.
She turned a corner and spotted her 20 year old, navy colored blue car. She unlocked it a few feet away from her car, opening the car door. She hopped in, and pulled out of the parking spot, going onto the main road home.
She drove for 10 minutes, parking into the driveway of her home she lived in with her mom. She parked the car, grabbed the keys, and opened the car door and got out. As soon as she was out, the wind was swaying her hair all around, causing her to squint her eyes. She walked up the stone pathways. There were a bunch of vines that crawled up the sides of the house, wrapping around the railings of the porch.
Aurora unlocked the front door, and walked in. She was on her own for the rest of the night, her mom often worked night shift during school weeks. Aurora walked up the steep stairs up to her room. The opened the white wood door, and flopped down at the end of her bed. She let her eyes rest for a few seconds before getting up, and turning on the tv with the remote.
She turned on something random before getting things to start up a shower. She grabbed towels and clothes, then walked into the bathroom in her room. She took a quick shower, got dressed and dried her mid-back length hair.
Aurora flopped onto her bed, cuddling up under her blankets. She hugged herself, bringing her knees to her chest. Aurora would call this a good day. Nothing too big happened, no surprises or unexpected questions. And for that she could sleep soundly. She fell into a long warm slumber, one filled with dreams of something quite strange…
