When I would ride beside you
Bouncing in my seat
As you blared the music
I found every moment to be
At your side. I wanted you to introduce
Me as your daughter. I wanted you to notice me
There was a time
I would dance to your music and you'd smile
A toothless smile when you thought I wasn't looking
I wanted to hear your compliments.
I got on roofs for you, nails thrown
At me as I smiled up at you.
