Chapter 11 - In the Dark
Erin's POV
We heard light footsteps walk up to the door, then multiple locks opening. The door opened and my mouth dropped.
"Nicka?"
Her eyes widened and she quickly stuck her head out the door checking for something.
"Quickly get inside," she opened the door wider and motioned us in. Something seemed off. This isn't like her. We all filed in and she shut the door and stood with her back to it.
Quinn was looking at her with amazement, "mum is that really you?" He asked.
Nicka smiles at the boy, "I'm not your mother," she says.
"What!?!" Trey nearly yells. "Have you lost your mind?"
"Shhh, let me explain," she walks over to a plant sitting on a nice oak table. She lifts the plant and takes out an envelope. "Take this," she says handing it to Trey.
"Nicka what's wrong?" Trey asks.
"That's not Nicka," all of our heads snap towards Willow. "Your a decoy," the girl, who apparently isn't Nicka, gives us a strained smile.
"I see it now," I hear Ebhann say.
The closer I looked the more I noticed. For one her eyes were a shade darker and her hair shorter. Nicka was more slim than this woman and slightly taller. If they hadn't said anything I would've never noticed.
"So you're her doppelganger?" Trey asks.
She lightly laughs, "well something like that."
"Where's my mom?" I look over and see Quinn with tears in his eyes.
"Honey your mom's doing everything in her power to protect you," the Nicka look alike tries to explain to Quinn.
"From what?" He asks.
"I can't exactly say, but that letter will explain a lot," she says. "But you all need to leave James will be home soon."
"James Black!! Oh, I ain't leaving. Let me get my hands on that mother fucker." Colton grabs Willow and drags her out of the house.
"Thank you," I say before I walk out with everyone else.
Damn Nicka, you really want to keep us in the dark don't ya?
