"Tomatoes?" Liam asked me concisely as he pushed the trolley down the aisle and scanned the stands for his desired items.
"Check." I replied and carefully sat the fresh tomatoes down with the other ingredients.
After doubting his cooking skills, Liam was desperate to prove his "culinary expertise" and desperately dragged me to the nearest Tesco. We were currently shopping for the ingredients to make his 'Prize Pasta'- his words not mine. The Pervert might be a buffoon, but I guess when it came to cooking he was pretty serious about it. Suddenly, a pair of fingers appeared before my face. "Wake up, idiot, we haven't got all day." he snapped before walking away with the trolley. I couldn't help but admire his behind as he walked. "I can sense your eyes on my sweet arse, Ariadne. It'd be much more helpful if you didn't just stand there and actually showed me where the blooming pasta aisle is!" he yelled. I ducked my head down to avoid the pairs of eyes looking at me and quickly ran ahead of Liam and showed him where the pasta sat.
"I hate you, you know that right?"
"The feeling's mutual, love."he shrugged, before grabbing a packet of tagliatelle .
"We need cheese." I read from the list.
"Well, where is it?" He asked.
"You see Liam, I don't really go food shopping that often, and it's been-"
"You don't know do you? You've lived here your whole life and you don't know where the stinking cheese is?"
"No."
"You're an idiot, Ariadne."
"You've said that before."
Ten minutes later and we were still searching for the stupid cheese. I recommended that we ask for directions, but Liam refused. My legs were beginning to hurt, as this was probably the most exercise I had done in the entire six weeks holiday."Let me sit in the trolley, my legs are aching." I moaned, massaging my legs and slumping over the side of the trolley.
"Deal with it."
Another ten minutes later and we had finally found the cheese, now we were just looking for the minced meat. I was continuously complaining about my aching legs, and Liam was forever saying 'no'. "My legs-"
"Yes, I know. They bloody hurt. You've said that for the last blooming twenty minutes!" he exclaimed before grabbing me by the waist and dumping me in the shopping trolley.
"There, happy now?" He asked.
"Very." I smiled, before crossing my legs like a kid, and directing him to the till.
*******************************************************************************
"Welcome to Tesco. Please swipe your items." Said the overly-friendly self-service till as we pulled up and pressed start.
"You hand them to me, and I'll swipe them, okay? Not even you could mess up that." stated Liam, not even attempting to hide his snarky, patronizing tone.
"Hmph." I theatrically sigh, before beginning to pass him his stupid items
It was going fine. We were three quarters of the way through the ingredients, and we were making good time. That is until, I handed him the tin of tomatoes.
"BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!"
Aloud blaring noise suddenly erupted from our till, scaring the shit out of me, and even making Liam jump slightly. Thousands of heads throughout the shop suddenly turn to face us eyes watching and judging-including Liam's.
"Hey!" I turn to him. "Don't look at me like that. It was your fault!" I accuse beginning to feel my cheeks heat up.
"How was it m-" Liam starts, before quickly becoming distracted by something behind me.
"Hi, can help?" says an annoying high pitched voice from behind me, and I turn to see where Liam was looking. A girl with long wavy brown hair, blue eyes, and perfectly pursed pink lips, stood before me, twisting a ringlet round her finger. An incoherent noise escaped his throat; gurgled or growled, I'm not sure.
"Dee Dee?" He repeats himself, not sure where to look. This 'Dee Dee' girl's eyes suddenly widened, and she flipped her hair and pouted even more.
"Oh my gosh! Liam!" exclaimed the girl before leaping forward and enveloping Liam in a tight hug. "I can't believe it's you!"
"Yeah...me neither." replied Liam awkwardly, not seeming overly-pleased to see her.Feelingly unsure of what to do, I carefully tried to back away and go pretend to stare intently at the vegetable section, when I managed to trip over a stack of baskets and fall but-first on her hard concrete floor.
Stupid baskets.
"Oh my gosh?" Are you okay?" Dee Dee dramatically trotted over to me and bent over me in a theatrical manner. Face a scene of fake concern, like she's auditioning for play.
"Yeah...thanks. I was just-" I try desperately to grasp for words but can't seem to find them. I looked over to Liam for help, but he just had his head in his hands.Once I was back on my feet again, I took another approach to the situation, and started fresh.
"Hi, I'm Ariadne, but everyone calls me Addie." I said with my friendliest smile.
"Dakota Davies. But everyone calls me Dee Dee!" replied Dee Dee with an unnatural grin and a flick of her hair. "Liam and I got way back. We used be best friends, didn't we Liam?" she added turning and looking expectantly to him.
"We've been new neighbours for a little over a week."
"Oh my gosh Really? Liam and I used to be neighbor's until my dad's business made us move. When Liam and I were little we used to always go around to-"
Liam coughed awkwardly, and looked down at his shoes. "Forget about the self checkout, let's just go to the till."
"Oh, okay. I see you guys are busy... I'll see you at school! I'm here until the end of September, then we're moving again! Maybe, we can hang out, Liam. I'd really love that!"said Dee Dee, as she grabbed a pen out of her handbag, scribbling her number and name on Liam's hand ,and adding a small heart next o her name , before turning and walking away with a slight spring in her step and a sway in her hips.
Well, that was the first time I've seen Liam look so shocked.
"I guess you didn't know she was back." I said to Liam, but his only response was a low grunt and him taking off towards the nearest till.
"Best friends...?" I asked him with a cheeky smirk and a raised eyebrow .
Now it's my turn to tease...
"Whatever, okay. Do you want me to cook for you, or not?" replied Liam with low voice slightly tinged with embarrassment.
The mention of food, shut me up.
Observing my silence, Liam muttered "That's what I thought." with his usual confidence and ease returning to his voice.
WOW,WOW,WOW,WOW. Whos's the random chick we just introduced? Looks like we got a little drama on our hands. *maniacal laugh* -N
So, what are your thoughts on Dee Dee so far? Why is she back? What does she want with Liam? How is everything going to work out? Please a comment what what you think of her :D - R
