Abigail:
"Holy hell!" I yelled in absolute terror. We were all frozen by what we saw; BlueFire had newly received scars all over his body along with bites and scratches, his left ear was torn off, his stomach had a deep cut on it, and his left back leg and half of his tail was torn off as well. Not to mention that he was covered in blood! There was blood coming from his mouth and nose and from his wounds and from his torn off ear, leg, and tail. His blue eyes were wide open with terror. "BlueFire?" Horror came from Hawk's voice as he stared at the dismantled corpse of the co-leader. "What happened to him?" ShadowPelt asked.
"He must've been killed by rouges." MoonStone assumed.Hawk: "What do we do now?"
Abigail: "We carry his body back home."
ShadowPelt: "How will we explain this to my father?"
MistFur: "We're going to have to tell him."
Hawk carefully picked up his body. "Find the other patrols and let them know about what happened." I said to MistFur, MoonStone, and ShadowPelt. They did just that as we walked back to the Forest Spirits Division.
…
Summer:I caught the sight of Abigail and her patrol entering camp with the body of a blue wolf that Hawk was carrying on his back. I knew that it was BlueFire and so I went ahead and walked up to Chief CrimsonPelt, who was anxiously pacing back and forth. "Sir, Abigail and her patrol are back. But what they found is something you won't really like." I said. He then rushed over to the patrol, his eyes widened with grief upon seeing BlueFire's body. He crouched next to his body and buried his muzzle into his brother's blood-soaked fur. Just then, I saw the North, East, and West patrol enter camp and caught a glimpse of BlueFire's body. DaisyPetal, RainPelt, and CrimsonFoot came running into the clearing and began crying next to the deceased body of the co-leader. "Out of all animals, why did the spirits have to take him?" DaisyPetal cried. "Why couldn't they've taken some other animal instead?"
Why did it have to take him? Why couldn't it been someone else? I had asked the exactly same questions when my father had died–I felt their grief and their pain for their loss, but all I could do was walk up to Chief CrimsonPelt and his family and say: "I'm sorry."
Chief CrimsonPelt did not reply, all he did was sit back up, his head was low with sorrow and grief. "He's really… dead, isn't he?" Jemma asked in a horrified voice. "Yes." I quietly replied, nodding my head as I said it. I looked up to Chief CrimsonPelt and asked: "What are you gonna do now, sir?" He looked his body and then looked at me but said nothing at that moment. Then MistFur came up to him "What will happen next, sir?" She asked him. "Who will be the new co-leader?" He looked at her, but he did not respond to her at first. He then walked up to the Leader's rock and announced: "May all animals young and old all gather here for a Division meeting!" All of the animals came towards the rock and so did we. "As many of you know, we have lost our most leal co-leader, BlueFire; he was not only our co-leader, but he was also my younger brother; he was a hardworking co-leader, a great brother, a wonderful mate, an amazing father, and an amazing friend to all of us." He said. "However, I cannot leave this Division without a leader if I were to pass on and I had no co-leader. So, I, Chief CrimsonPelt, leader of the Forest Spirits Division, call upon the Spirit Runners Division and the spirit of BlueFire and that he, along with our ancestors agree with my decision. ArrowHeart, step forward please."
Surprised, ArrowHeart did what his leader told him to do. Once he was close enough, Chief CrimsonPelt jumped from the rock to meet ArrowHeart's gaze. "I, Chief CrimsonPelt, leader of the Forest Spirits Division call upon the Spirit Runners Division and the spirit of BlueFire and that they may approve of my decision. ArrowHeart, I ask you: Do you wish to become the new second-in-command of the Forest Spirits Division?"
ArrowHeart: "Really? Why, Chief CrimsonPelt, I–"
Chief CrimsonPelt: "If you don't wish to, then you don't have to. What do you say?"
ArrowHeart looked at everyone and then looked at Chief CrimsonPelt and said: "Yes, sir. I do accept."
Chief CrimsonPelt: "Then by the powers invested in our ancestors and by the spirit of BlueFire, I, Chief CrimsonPelt, hereby name ArrowHeart the new co-leader of the Forest Spirits Division!"
He then placed his nose on ArrowHeart's forehead. "ArrowHeart! ArrowHeart!" Everyone cheered, I remember that we even joined in with the others as well. ArrowHeart then looked at everyone. "Fellow mammals, it is truly an honor to be the second-in-command for this Division. I know that we're all suffering greatly due to BlueFire's sudden death and to all that has happened over the last few years. But he would want all of us to keep moving forward even during the darkest times, so for his sake, we must all stay strong. I know it will be hard for many of us, but we will get there soon enough. For there is also light near the end of the darkest tunnels." ArrowHeart said. "CrimsonFoot, you and ShadowPelt will be in charge of burying BlueFire." He ordered.
And they did just that. "We all may pay our respects to BlueFire, by staying silent all night. The silence will be over be sunrise tomorrow." Chief CrimsonPelt said. "Visiting his grave will be allowed. But for now, we all must rest for the night." The animals then went back to their dens. I saw General WidowPelt, ArrowHeart, and StealthHunter go over to DaisyPetal and her family to try and comfort them for their loss. "Heroes, would you all like to spend the night here?" Chief CrimsonPelt asked. "I am afraid for what might happen if you all attempt to go back home late tonight. But if you wish to go back home, then that is all right. But I wish you all safe travels.""We'll stay." Aurora said. "We'll stay here and rest as well as pay our respects to BlueFire. But we'll return home tomorrow before sunrise."
And so we did. But little did any of us knew, was that Aurora and Amethyst would stumble across another new threat that would be well-known to all of the forest; even after the Seventh Generation had ended.
