Y/N POV
This past week my mind has been occupied by the party. I needed everything to go perfect especially because Gracie would be there. And so far everything was going perfectly until right now."Oh shit! I'm so sorry" I exclaimed as I felt hot coffee spilling over another girl and me.
"No no it's okay, I wasn't looking where I was going." the girl told me sincerely. My eyebrows raised as I heard her speaking in an English accent. When I looked up I was met with a girl around my height. She had freckles littering her cheeks and bangs that perfectly framed her face.
"Let me buy you a new coffee at least. There's a cafe just around the corner if you have the time." I told her feeling the tip of my ears turning red of embarrassment (or nerves).
"You know what, I have nothing else to do so why not!" she said a little loudly with a bright smile. "Lead the way..." she paused looking at me expectantly.
Staying quiet for a second I realized she was asking for my name. "O-oh it's uh Y/N, and you?" my cheeks turning even more red than I thought was possible.
"Beatrice, but you can call me Bea." she said with a shy smile. We began walking towards the cafe making some small talk not really knowing what to say.
"You've got an accent, and I'm assuming you're somewhere from the U.K.?" I questioned her as I held the door open for her.
"Yeah, I'm from London but I was born in the Philippines!" Bea told me excitedly. She seemed to be enjoying this as much as I was. "I'm going to wash my hands really quick, but if anything get me an Americano." she whispered into my ear before she rushed off into the bathroom.
I reached the front of the line way too quickly for my liking and Beatrice still hadn't returned. Mustering up the little courage I had, I walked to the register where a tall blonde man stood waiting to take my order.
"What can I get you beautiful?" the man, whose name tag read Mark, asked me. Immediately feeling uncomfortable I wrapped my arms around my body trying hard to avoid his wandering eyes.
"Um two medium americanos and two croissants please." I said slightly stumbling over my response.
"That's a lot for a small girl like you, no? Don't want to be putting on any weight now." Forcing a laugh I gave him an awkward smile not knowing what to do. "And your name?"
"Y/N." I heard a voice say from beside me. I felt an arm wrapping itself around my waist, but before I could do anything I heard her voice speak up again.
"How much is it?" she asked annoyed with him. As I glanced to my side I saw Beatrice reaching for her wallet."Nope I invited you out I'm paying."
"Too bad I have my wallet out."
"God I can't handle this today! The total is $23.13, cash or card?" Mark said getting annoyed by our 'couples' banter.
"Cash!" I answered quickly while grabbing a 20 and a 5 from my wallet. Handing the money to him, he purposely grabbed my hand letting his touch linger. Feeling disgusted I snatched my hand away not caring to get the change back. I felt Beatrice's hand on my back guiding me to a table near a window.
"God I swear this is why I'm gay!" I joked as I sat down.
"Dude you should've seen the look on his face when I came over-" she said before getting cut off by her own laugh. "My god this was perfect, I can't thank you enough for this."
"If anything you should thank your spilt coffee. But seriously I needed this too. Week has been too stressful" I told her genuinely. She seemed like a trustworthy person and I felt like I could just pour my heart out to her, stranger or not.
"I think this week is cursed or something." she replied half seriously.
"Order for Y/N!" a loud voice yelled out interrupting our slowly dying conversation. The two of us got up and got our respective items before heading back to our table.
"I still haven't asked, but what do you do for work?" I questioned Beatrice who was tending to her hot coffee.
"Oh well if I'm being completely honest, nothing really. I'm trying to get into music, it truly is my passion but at times it feels like I'll never get seen you know." she simply said.
"No trust me I get you, I've kinda got the same situation going on. I think if it's right for you then soon enough you'll be noticed just be patient." I told her trying to be supportive, knowing firsthand how difficult it really is.
We quickly fell back into easy conversation with nothing feeling forced. There were times where I felt like we were going to get kicked out from how loud we were being. Time quickly passed and the sun was already set. We had been there for roughly four hours, having gone through multiple drinks not wanting this meeting to end. But of course all good things do end and this time it's due to closing.
"Let me see your phone quickly" Beatrice told me when we were about to get up and leave. Without hesitating I handed her my unlocked phone, watching her with curiosity. It took her a minute before she gave it back with a small smile. Looking down I saw she saved her number under "london girl :)". I quickly sent a 'hiii' so she could save my number too.
As I began standing up I remembered about the party in two days. "Beatrice I'm- well I'm having a party on Saturday, and if you're still here in Glendale then I'd love for you to come-well if you can of course!" I said blushing over my butchered sentence.
"You're cute ya know." she said with a slight smirk clearing noticing the blush that took over my features. "But yeah I'll be there, just send me the address!" she added cheerily.
As we exited the cafe and said our goodbyes we shared a short but sweet hug, not knowing one girl saw us from afar.
