Stay? Just For The Night?

Over the next few weeks, you had absolutely no contact with Jack, which wasn't rare after a fight. You two have went a lot longer without talking in the past, the longest being 3 months. A couple of weeks was on the shorter side of things for you two.

You had signed the divorce papers right after Jack had left that night, but you still hadn't told Jack that. You weren't sure if you wanted to, you could always just send the signed papers to your lawyers, but you thought it would be nice to give Jack a heads up. Why? You weren't exactly sure. You meant it when you said you were done if he walked out the door, but you had said it so many times that you knew Jack didn't believe you, and honestly there was a part of you that didn't even believe yourself.

You broke up with Brandon the day after Jack came over. You told him everything, that you left out the fact you were still married to Jack, and that it was because of you. You told him how you called Jack and everything that happened that night and the day after. If you hadn't broke up with Brandon, he would have broken up with you, not that you could blame him. He could tell you weren't fully emotionally in the relationship so while finding out his girlfriend was

technically married was shocking to him, the relationship ending wasn't.

You had finally realized what you knew deep down all along. You could never get over Jack if you use other people to do that. As stupid as it might be, there was a part of you that still did love him, but maybe you were blinded by the fact that when you two were good, things were amazing, they couldn't be better. Jack was everything you wanted in a partner, and even more then that. When things were bad though, there was lying, cheating, arguing, and Jack would throw himself into work instead of dealing with your relationship problems. Though you weren't much better. While you never cheated on Jack, you also had the habit of throwing yourself into whatever you could to avoid your problems with Jack.

Jack also broke up with Chloe, though he didn't plan on it.  About a week after Jack came over to your house, he found out Chloe had been cheating on him for most of their relationship. With how often you and Jack had snuck around he knew how to tell if someone was cheating, though it wasn't that hard. Jack noticed that Chloe had gotten more secretive over her phone, while normally if she would get a notification and wasn't by her phone, she would ask Jack to see what it was. Slowly she stopped asking and kept her phone on her at all times. He didn't say anything though until he saw a couple faded hickeys that he knew for a fact he didn't leave.

The thing he had done to you, and almost every person he had been with since you, had happened to him. Jack was cheated on. Jack finally knew what it felt like to be cheated on instead of being the one doing the cheating. Even though he didn't love Chloe, and was planning on breaking up with her, it still hurt him to be cheated on.

It wasn't even the fact that he was cheated on that hurt him, well it did. But it was also the fact that he felt a fraction of what he made you feel when you found out he cheated on you.

About a month after your argument with Jack, he started to try to contact you. He started with texts that you didn't respond to, and phone calls that you never answered or returned. Jack didn't think anything of it at first. He still didn't think you were serious about being done with him, until about a week of you not responding. That's when he started to believe you.

Jack had finally started to give up, but after a couple more days you answered one of his calls. You weren't sure why.

"What do you want Jack?" You asked as you answered the phone.

"Well, hello to you too." Jack said, letting out a sarcastic laugh. "I just want to talk."

"That's all we ever plan on doing, yet that's never the only thing that happens." You said. "I meant what I said before you left that night." Jack sighed softly.
