Chapter two: The day i found you.

Running as fast as my little legs could take me. I run through the woods. The brances of the dead trees cut through my skin. Blood is running from my arm and dripping on the ground. After running through the woods for hours I found a tree with a hole in it. The hole was big enough for me to climb in to. As fast as I could climb I climb up in the hole of the dead tree. When I was in the hole I started to realize what happend a couple hours ago. Tears started to run down my cheek. I lost everything. The people I loved the most. My home where I felt safe and welcome. Thinking about that made me cry even more. "I will always be with you and protect you Katherine".The voice of luca softly said that to me inside my head. With her calming and sweet words I fell asleep. Dreaming about the dragon with the red eyes killing my whole family and my home in one night. The next morning I woke up with a ray of sunlight shining in my eyes. Scared of the nightmare I had I looked outside the tree. The only thing I saw was snow and dead trees. Birds started to chirp and I saw some bunnys hopping by. In the corner of my eyes I saw some bushes. Everything I saw maked me feel cold and scared. I couldn't move because I was so scared. Where am I and how far was I from the place I called home?. I didn't know if the dragon followed me or was still looking for me. Still thinking about that my stomach started to growl. Then I remembered that I didn't have food since my birthday party last night. I started to look around for food but I didn't see any food around me. Is this how I am going to die ?. Scared and alone. Then I started to remember that I saw some berry bushes on the left side of me. I was too scared to leave the hole in the tree but I had to eat to survive. I gather up some courage and slowly climbed out of the hole in the tree and looked around if nobody was watching me. When I knew it was safe I try to run towards the bushes and gather some of the berries they had. While trying to run I felt a sharp pain from my right leg. When I looked at my leg I saw blood running down. I pulled up my dress a little to see where the blood was coming from. When I lifted up my dress I saw a big cut in my right leg. I didn't notice it before because adrenaline was flowing through my body. I ripped a piece of my dress and bandaged my leg. I walked carefully and slowly back to the tree and climbed back up again. When I got inside I started to eat the berries. While eating I was thinking was this going to be my life for now. With my stomach not growling anymore I fell into a deep nightmare. Wishing I would not wake up so I could be with my family again.
A couple days of surviving on berries and a little stream of water I found. I woke up from hearing strange voices come towards me. Fear started to take over and my breathing started to get heavy. In the last couple of days I started to fear people and when I saw one I would run back to the tree. The voices came closer and I started to back up more into the tree. The voices were now so close that I could hear they were children. I started to peek outside a little. My eyes started to scan outside where the voice came from. I saw two little boys playing in the woods. One started to count and the other started to hide. What game are they playing I asked myself. I looked at the boy who was counting. I guess they are the same age as I am. Something pulled me towards them and I started to look even closer. When I looked at the boy who was now looking for the other boy I started to miss my brother Kirito. I felt tears started to run down my cheeks again. While my mind was not with the boys but with missing Kirito I accidentally knocked a dead brance out of the tree hole. It fell on the soft snow and made a small sound. The boys stopped playing and looked at the brance that fell out. They started to slowly look up and saw the hole where I was hiding. The boys started to walk slowly to the tree and picked up the brance. I started to hide myself again. My heart started to pound very fast in my chest. My breathing started to get heavy and I tried not to make a sound. Thats when I started to hear a soft and sweet voice. "Hello dont be scared. We are not going to hurt you". Still so scared I didnt move a muscle. Trying to get my breathing under control. "Can you come down and play with us?". The warmth in his voice made me calm down but also scared that I felt that for a stranger. Slowly I started to come closer to the entrance of the hole. When I started to see them they smiled at me. "Hello little girl". He said. "My name is Jungkook and this is my best friend Jimin. Whats your name? Dont be scared we are nice". With a crack of fear in my voice I said "hello my name is Katherine". I could only tell my first name. If I tell them who I really was maybe they will hurt me or tell the dragon I am here. They looked at me with questions in their eyes. In my head I thought here we go again. People who started to ask questions. "Why are you in that tree?". Jungkook looked at me while he ask that question. When I hear that question my eyes started to fill with tears again. Jungkook looked at Jimin and started to calm me down. "Dont cry. You dont have to tell us". I started to calm down after a couple minutes. Jungkook and Jimin still looked at me with warm smiles. "You want to play with us ?. We are playing hide and seek". Jimin asked me when he saw me calm down. I looked at his eyes. The only thing I saw in his eyes was happiness and a little sparkle. I looked at the both of them and shook my head no. "Its okay. We can play and you can watch us and when you want to join let us know". Jimin said that with a big smile on his face and started to count while Jungkook was hiding. I looked at the two boys playing for hours. The sun was starting to get down and it slowly became darker. I saw Jungkook and Jimin walking towards me again. "We need to go home now but no worries we will come back tomorrow". They smiled at me and walked away. I keep looking at the two boys till they were out of my sight. "Luca what should I do?". "Maybe its time you started to let some people come closer to you but be carefull. Don't trust to fast and too much". Luca's words keep repeating inside my head while I slowly walk to the berry bushes to get my dinner. After my dinner I fell asleep pretty fast. For the first time after that horrible night I dreamed about the two boys playing outside my tree. I fell asleep with a little smile on my face. The next morning I woke up with a smell of fresh baked croissants. I missed that smell. When I still lived in the palace every Sunday we had fresh baked croissants for breakfast. I started to wake up to look outside. When I looked down I saw a basket on the ground in front of my tree. Slowly I climbed down and looked at the basket. The smell made my mouth water. I started to look inside the basket. Inside the basket is a glass bottle of milk and four fresh baked croissants. I looked around me to see who left it there. I scan the area and saw two arms coming from behind a big tree. I looked better and saw Jungkook and Jimin hiding waiting till I eat whats inside the basket. As fast as I could I climbed up the tree and started to hide again. With sad faces Jungkook and Jimin came out from hiding behind the tree and walked to the basket. "We didnt want to scare you". Jungkook's voice was full of sadness when he said that. "We saw you looked so skinny and thought we bring you some food and something to drink". I slowly came out of hiding and looked at them. I was still scared but felt bad how I reacted. "I am sorry but I don't trust people that easy". I said that with tears and fear in my eyes. Jimin started to pick up the basket and slowly started to climb up the tree. "Take it . We made it specialy for you". I looked at him and then at the basket. Could I trust them?. I slowly took the basket and started to smell the food and the milk. I was checking if I smelled poison in it. The smell was normal so I picked up one of the croissants in the basket and slowly took a bite. When I finished the first one I knew that there was no poison in it . I started to eat the rest and drink the whole bottle of milk after that. When I finished everything I climbed out of the tree and gave the basket back to Jimin. "Thank you Jimin and Jungkook. I didnt have a good meal for days". I looked at them and for the first time since that night I smiled. Slowly and a little shy I lifted my head and saw the two boys smiling at me with sparkles in their eyes. "Can you now play with us?. We will take it slow for you. We saw the wound on your leg". Jungkook pointed at my right leg when he talked. Still scared I looked at them and ask Luca "You think its safe for us to start trusting them?. What if that dragon finds me or is still looking for me. What if they tell the dragon where I am". "I will protect you and keep you safe. You need to start having fun and play a little". With those words from Luca I started to feel less scared. Jungkook held out his hand waiting for me to grab it. I grabbed Jungkook's hand still shaking. When I grabbed his hand a weird feeling started to flow through my body. My heart started to pound but not from fear. What is that feeling and why can't I stop looking at Jungkook?.
