It was barely dusk as Y/N stood at the bottom of the steps, stretching out her legs before her morning run.
"Morning, Sam," she said as a man in a sweatshirt and shorts approached her.
"Good morning, Y/N. How are you doing?" He asked
"Just fine. What about yourself?"
"I'm alright. Ready to start?"
"You okay if my friend joins us later on?"
"As long as they can keep up," Sam laughed.
"Oh, I'm sure he can," Y/N smirked as they started.
When they crossed part of the Inlet Bridge, a tall, muscular man with blonde hair shot past them.
"On your left."
"Man's got some speed behind him." Sam said with surprise in his tone.
"That he does," Y/N responded with a smile.
They continued on to the Jefferson Memorial when the blonde man passed them again.
"On your left," he said again.
"Uh-huh. On our left. Got it." Sam huffed.
Y/N let out a small laugh.
"What's so funny?" He asked.
"Nothing, let's keep going."
They pushed on past the Lincoln Memorial once more. Both of them heard the quick footsteps of the blonde man as he approached.
Sam glanced back. "Don't say it. Don't you say it."
"On your left." He said, passing both of them once again.
"Come on!" Sam quickened his pace into an all out sprint as they rounded The Capitol Reflecting Pool.
Y/N heard him panting and finally scream out as he slowed down to a stop, unable to keep up. She laughed at him.
"What are you laughing at?"
"You're trying to keep up with Captain America. It's actually quite fun to watch." She caught up to him. "Wanna walk to the edge of the pool then run the rest of the way to the Capitol?"
"That would be most preferred," He continued to huff. "I thought you said your friend was going to join us?"
"He did, and I'm sure he enjoyed it." Y/N smiled as she kept her eyes forward.
"No he didn't, the only one that we saw was. . ." He stopped himself as he realized who she was talking about.
She laughed at him again.
"Are you kidding me! You never mentioned that. . . That's not fair" Sam was completely flabbergasted.
"Oh there is a lot I haven't mentioned," She winked at him.
"What are you keeping from me?" He asked with excitement.
"In due time my dear friend."
"That's so unfair! You can't just tell me that Captain America is your friend and that you have more secrets. I need to know."
