I'm putting a frosting in the cupcake when suddenly Angelo curses beside me while peeking at the door.
"Shit! Lando and Charles are here" I almost dropped the piping bag when he uttered familiar names.
"Ferrari and Mclaren are here?!" Madeline added while taking a glance at the door.
"Who would have thought that Formula 1 drivers would come here?" I tell them jokingly.
"I thought you don't watch Formula 1, Zariya?" Madeline asked me when I mentioned Formula 1
"I only told you that I don't watch them, I didn't say that I don't know them" I answered her while I continue working on the cupcakes while they return to their work.
"oh, right" It looks like she believes in what I said.
"They probably heard that there is a newly open Bakery here. We are living in a small country after all" Angelo says casually, what he said is true. Gossip can easily spread and for sure Charles knew that I own this shop. When we were still together we always come here to eat bread that Papa bakes. I knew that any time, he would come here and luckily I'm not working in the hall today because I don't think I'm ready to see his face.
I'm putting the cookies on the cooling rack when Sophie called me.
"Zari, someone named Yenna is looking for you." it looks like she already arrived. I was so busy that I wasn't able to check my phone and for sure she's been texting or calling me earlier.
"Can you lead her to my office and tell her that I'll follow her in a minute. thanks, Sophie" I quickly fix the cookies and after I'm done, I excuse myself and went to see Yenna. When I open my office door, all I hear is the laughter of Yenna and Lia. it looks like they are both excited and happy to see each other that they didn't even notice that I'm here. I just stand there watching them until Lia notices me.
"Mommy is here!" she shouted with excitement while she runs at me. Yenna stands up to hug me.
"Hey, Girl. I missed you"
"I missed you too, it's been hard without you in here" She just laughed at my remarks.
"Your bakery is doing well. I noticed that people keep on coming in here" We seated on the couch.
"I hope it would stay like this forever," I tell her while I keep on touching Lia's hair.
"Of course, it will. You're the most hardworking person that I've known and since your beautiful best friend is already here, your life would become easy" I rolled my eyes and laugh at what she said. we only talked for 15 minutes since I need to return to the kitchen already. She told me that she want to show Lia around and take her shopping.
I busied myself in the kitchen and sometimes I help in the hall. I immediately left the shop after closing it because Yenna told me that we will just meet at the restaurant that she reserves to eat dinner. The restaurant is a little bit far that's why I ride a taxi. just as is enter the restaurant I immediately saw Lia and Yenna. I walk towards the table and when Yenna saw me, she told Lia that I already arrive.
"Sorry, Im late" I kissed Yenna's cheek and Lia wants me to carry her.
"It's okay babes, We were just a little bit early because Lia keeps on telling me that she was already hungry and she's missing you"
"Did my baby misses me already?" I ask Lia as I take a seat and put her in a chair beside me.
"Yes Mommy" she answered
"me too baby" I hug and kissed her lips as I answered.
"I already ordered the food, Lia's favorite pizza margherita with prosciutto and carbonara," Yenna told me when I was about to ask her about our food.
