Sky and Kadeem : A Hood Love Story

"Damn it Damn it Damn it!" I yelled at the fact he wasn't answering my calls. I paced around my apartment and cried . I felt frustrated, jealous and used. What did Sky have that I didn't have? A few minutes later I heard a knock at my door . I opened it and it was Kadeem. He looked as if he hadn't slept in days.

"Why haven't you been answering my calls?"

"Come on May...i have a lot going on. She found out about us."

"About ME?"

"No...she doesn't know who it is but she knows i've been fucking around." Kadeem sat down on my couch. I went to the kitchen and fixed him a plate of food before handing it to him. He ate dinner and kicked his feet up. I began rolling up a blunt and turned on my Lava lamp.

"What is it about her that you like?"I asked him.

"What do you mean?"

"Why do you love her?"

"What's not to love? She's beautiful, works hard, and is a good mother."

I squirmed around in my seat and handed him the blunt before laying back on the couch.

"It just seems like every guy that I actually get interested in winds up being taken."

"Maybe it's something about you that attracts men that are taken."

"Probably true. Do you think you could ever feel that way about me?"

"Mey ..what we have is strictly sex... you a cool girl but you could never be more than a fuck buddy to me.
"Well at least you are honest ."I laughed before getting up and storming into the kitchen. Kadeem followed behind me rolling his eyes.

"Listen Mey... i made a mistake.. I love her. We're gonna have to stop this."Kadeem replied.

"Men.. get out."I said, banging my fist on the table. Kadeem walked to the door and opened it . Before he left out fully he turned to me .

"You can never be Sky...she's one of a kind. Clean your house."He said leaving out the door. I picked up a plate and threw it at the door. From that day on I hated Kadeem. I hated Kadeem and I wanted to kill Sky. The next day when I walked into work I tried hard to mask my hurt but everyone knew something was wrong. I hatched a plan and I needed to be careful. Careful and quiet about it . My beef with Sky was personal and I didn't want Tina ruining anything.

"Are you okay Sky ?Do you need anything?"I asked her with a smile.

"Girl yes.I have 3 more heads to do. Can you run to the store and give me a drink?" She asked

"Sure! Anything else?"

"A bag of pretzels with dip too please,"She added. I headed to the store and when I came back Kadeem was carrying flowers and candy into the shop. Our eyes locked eyes for a moment then I turned my head.

Sky didn't say thank you or anything. She put the flowers and candy down and went back to her work. She was hurt but i didn't care because i was one of the reasons for it.

"You ain't ever gonna forgive him huh?"I asked her while combing out a client's hair.

"Not for a while. I need to be angry for a while." She replied.

"Let's go out for a drink...you can grab a lemonade eee."Tina suggested.

"Okay...i will go out for a little bit."Sky smiled. Later on we headed to my house and got ready. Sky's belly was getting bigger and I noticed a tattoo of Kadeem's name on her thigh.

"You have his name tatted?"

"Yeah he has mine too."

"Awww."I smiled

"Ain't no awe."Sky smirked.

"Girl, how long are you gonna be angry at that man? I think he's sorry by the way he's acting."Tina said while fixing her hair.

"Until I am ready to be done."

Jealousy filled inside of me. He was in love with her and not me. Kadeem showered her with gifts and love and all I got was dick . I was going to try my hardest to get Kadeem back. We went to the bar and I sat at the bar while Sky and Tina danced. She was having a good time. I ordered our drinks and a lemonade for Sky.

"This club ain't fun like it used to be."Tina said grimacing.

"We should've gone to the strip club. Our stomping grounds."I smiled winking at Tina

"Girl you know Marcie gonna flip if she saw Sky walking in there." While we were drinking and talking, a tall brown skinned dude with hella tattoos walked up to Sky. He was fine and had money. I watched as he pursued her and then she curved him . The men in Houston adored Sky. She reminded them of Jhene Aiko and I couldn't blame them . Sky was beautiful which made me hate her even more.

I sat my drink down and walked out of the club towards my car.

While I was getting in the car my phone began to ring . It was Kadeem.

"Yo."

"Yo... I thought we were done."

"We are...where that nigga Pierre been? His homies burnt me for 200."

"I don't know, go look for him."I said, hanging up the phone. I lit a cigarette and began driving home. The sun began to peek through and I was super tired.
