15: In Preparation

I put my hands into my pocket, giving a confused hum as I feel broken pieces in it as I grab one of them. I hold it up, gasping slightly when I see a part of the USB drive. "Shit.." I press my lips together, sighing. Gwen's expression changes as well, looking disappointed. "Did that happen when those two guys were bothering you? I swear I'm gonna-" Gwen stops walking as I look back.

"No! It wasn't them. I just stupidly tripped and fell. That's all." I glance at the broken piece before putting it back into my pocket. "It's fine. I can fix this. Maybe.." I give a thoughtful hum as I feel a paper while putting my hand back into my pocket. "I should've been there sooner.." She looks to the side, clenching her fist. I put a hand on her shoulder, reassuring her. "Gwen, I'm perfectly capable of dealing with those things.." I sigh as Gwen visibly looks like she's frustrated with herself.

"But I uh.. you're performing tomorrow, huh?" I nudge Gwen with my elbow as we walk along the dimly lit streets, entering the back of our school. "What? How'd you know?" Gwen scoffs, her eyebrow raised suspiciously. I grasp my pocket, pulling out the folded flyer, describing the concert she had told me about.

I fold it open, holding it up to her face and pushing it against her suddenly. "Hey!" She laughs, grabbing the paper. Gwen holds it in her grasp, analyzing it. "Where did you get this?" She lowers her hands, looking at me.

I press my lips together. "That fell out of your pocket, when we uh.. broke up. And you jumped out of my window." I smirk slightly, raising my eyebrow. Gwen's widen slightly as her mouth gapes open, glancing at the paper again. "O-Oh.." She pouts her lips slightly, feeling embarrassed. "Still hiding things from me? Thought you were better than that." I shake my head, clicking my tongue teasingly as I try to lighten the mood.

"I was going to tell you, alright? I just.. forgot." Gwen chuckles and rolls her eyes, crumbling the flyer and tossing it into a nearby garbage can. "No! What are you doing?!" I grab Gwen's shoulder, sighing as I see she's already thrown away the flyer. "I was gonna keep that.." I sigh loudly, tilting my head as Gwen smiles widely. "Trust me, you don't wanna see the band. We sound.. terrible." She shrugs, continuing to walk forward as she leaves me behind.

"Well, I don't care. I'm coming tomorrow, even if it's the last thing I do." I rush forward to keep up with Gwen's fast pace. Gwen lets out a puff of air, grinning while looking down. "Of course you would." She tilts her head, her eyes glancing at me from the side. She pushes her hair behind her ear, blushing slightly. My eyes perk up slightly as I notice. I clear my throat, looking away.

"Okay, but we need to set some ground rules though." I shake my head, scrunching up my face slightly. Gwen looks at me with a puzzled look. "For what?" She lifts her head. "For us being friends.. No more doing this.." I begin pushing my hair behind my ear to imitate her. Gwen scoffs loudly. "What?"

"That cute hair push back thing you do.." I laugh, seeing her do the same motion as she blushes. "You're doing it again." I point to her hand as she notices, quickly putting her hand down with groan. "I-It's not like I can control WHERE my hair goes. It tickles my face, okay?" Gwen runs a hand through the longer side of her hair as my expression softens. Her eyebrows lower, thinking of a retaliation.

"Fine. If we're doing ground rules then.." Gwen glances up at down at me, smirking slightly. "No more if your little neck rub." She tries imitating me poorly as I snicker. "My neck needs massaging. I'm having stiff neck problems. Like an old person." I place one hand on my chest, acting offended, as the other hand begins to rub my neck and Gwen breaks into a snicker.
