My breath comes in heavy huffs, panic rolling through me. What is this place? I'm in a wide room, with neatly arranged beds placed in rows. The cushioning of the bed was extremely comfortable, threatening to push me back into sleep. Nevertheless, I push myself up into a sitting position, although my arm screams at me to stop.
The room had multiple wide windows, with bright light tumbling through. Where am I? Suddenly, I hear the clack of boots and two voices exchanging conversation in the hallway, coming closer. The two people step through the threshold and freeze when they realize I am awake.
"Well hello." A girl, the one I faintly remember from last night, steps forward, hands crossed in front of her chest. She is wearing a tight black bodysuit, hair tied up in a high ponytail. Her black boots slack on the marble floor as she comes closer, gracefully sitting down on a chair.
"Uh, hi." Suddenly, all of last night's memories come rushing back to me, stopping me mid thought. Tina... was taken. Or worse, killed by one hell of a monster. I shut my eyes, tears threatening to spill onto the white bedsheets I was under. Don't cry. Don't cry. Not in front of these... people. But, one tear escapes my eye, rolling down my cheek.
"Started crying already? You've had such a traumatic experience dear, haven't you?" I wipe away my tears, glaring at her.
"You don't know anything about-" A gentle voice cuts me off.
"Octavia, that's enough. Your attitude towards everyone needs to improve." A light skinned boy, about my age, strolls towards us, smile on his face. He had messy brown hair, falling past his gorgeous ocean blue eyes, a splash of colour on his face. He reaches my bed, ocean eyes roving my face, looking for something. "Are you feeling okay?" I look anywhere but at them, nodding slightly. I was not okay. Not. Tina was gone, and she was- is my world. The other boy that had walked in with Octavia nods to the brown-haired boy, pulling out a notepad.
"You showed up at our doorstep last night, at around 11:45 pm-ish with a completely destroyed arm. Then you kind of just blacked out." I bite the inside of my lip, trying not to think about Tina, anything but Tina-
"We aren't sure what happened, but if you can remember, we want you to tell us." I push myself farther back into the wall of the bed, hesitant.
"Tina... she-" I frown at them, suspicion building up in my chest. Why are they trying to make me tell them? Who are they? Sure, they saved me but... "Why are you helping me? Who are you guys?" The girl called Octavia raises her chin, defiance shining in her eyes.
"What's it to you?"
"Answer my goddamn question."
"We don't owe you anything. In fact, I think we just saved your petty life. So spill." I glare at her intently, watching her cat-like amber eyes stare back at me, like icy cold daggers. The other guy holding a clipboard walks up to the brown-haired guy and starts to whisper. I catch what they say.
"Noah, there's only one place I've seen an arm burn like that. It's from a-" Noah raises a hand and turns back to me and Octavia.
"I get it. You don't trust us. But if anyone can help you right now, we can." I gulp back my tears and try not to think of Tina. It's gonna be completely fine. Eyeing Octavia, Noah understands and stands up.
"Octavia, James, please leave the room and get back to your normal businesses." With a loud humph, Octavia stalks out, with James tentatively frowning at me, as if he is trying to figure something out. Noah gently sits back down, looking me in my eyes. "If you're comfortable, you can tell me now." We lock eyes, and I see his blue orbs roving down my body.
"My name is- I'm Celene." He stares at me for a long time, a wry smirk forming on his light face.
"Hmm. I like it, C." I glare at him,
