“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” Sebastian said in his signature velvety voice. “Is this where the most intriguing conversations are taking place?”

I chuckled, knowing Sebastian had a knack for making grand entrances. “Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the master of thievery himself.” I replied.

Sebastian winked, taking a seat beside Thaddeus. “Ah, but you know how I love to make an entrance,” He said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Sebastian’s gaze fell on Thaddeus, and a sly smile crept across his face. “Speaking of ventures, Thaddeus,” He said, leaning in closer. “I have a proposition that might intrigue you.”

Thaddeus raised an eyebrow, curious about what Sebastian had in mind. “Go on,” He replied.

Sebastian’s eyes twinkled with excitement. “I recently acquired a set of the rarest diamonds,” He revealed, the thrill of heist evident in his voice. “Diamonds that even the wealthiest collectors would envy.”

Demetrio, Thaddeus, and I exchanged intrigue glances. We were all aware of Sebastian’s legendary heists, and the value of his ill-gotten wealth.

Sebastian continued, “I was thinking of hosting an exclusive auction, and I can’t think of anyone better than you, Thaddeus, to host such a prestigious event.”

Thaddeus considered the proposal. “An auction of rare diamonds,” He mused. “That does sound intriguing.”

Demetrio chimed in. “It would certainly add an air of mystery and allure to the proceedings.”

Sebastian nodded in agreement. “Exactly,” He said. “The allure of rarest diamonds showcased in an exclusive auction — it’s an opportunity that doesn’t come around often.”

Thaddeus smiled, appreciating the excitement of the proposition. “Alright, Sebastian,” He said, extending his hand. “Let’s make this auction an event to remember.”

Sebastian grinned, shaking Thaddeus’ hand firmly. “Excellent.”

In the quiet solitude of my office, I was immersed in reviewing some important documents when a gentle knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I looked up, blinking in surprise as I called out, “Come in.”

The door creaked open, and to my delight, Teagan stepped into the room, holding a steaming cup of black coffee. A soft smile graced her lips as she approached my desk.

“Good evening, Mr. Salvadore,” She greeted warmly, offering a cup of coffee. “I thought you might need this.”

My heart skipped a beat as I saw Teagan’s kind gesture. “Thank you, Teagan.” I said, accepting the coffee. “You read my mind. I was just about to make a coffee run myself.”

Teagan chuckled, taking a seat across from me. “Consider it a little repayment for all the hard work you’ve put in,” She said, her eyes sparkling with appreciation.

I took a sip of coffee, the rich, bold flavor awakened my senses. I smiled, savoring the moment.

“You have a talent for knowing what people need,” I remarked, my gaze meeting hers.

She slightly blushed. “I’m just glad I could help,” She said, tucking a hair behind her ear.

“By the way,” I said. “Have you heard back from Bartholomew about the contract?”

Teagan’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Yes, he signed it,” She replied, her voice tinged with triumph. “Everything is set, and we can move forward with the new project.”

“Well done, Teagan.”

“Thank you, Mr. Salvadore.” She said, her smile widening. “I’m glad that everything worked out.”

At this moment, as we sat together in my office, I couldn’t help but feel a growing fondness for Teagan. She was not just an excellent employee, but a thoughtful and supportive friend as well.

Our connection felt effortless, and I appreciated the way she brought a touch of warmth and light into my otherwise serious and sometimes enigmatic world.

This was more than just a business partnership. There was something deeper, something that made me look forward to our interactions, and to sharing moments like this over a cup of coffee.

Teagan’s an irreplaceable presence in my life.

The city lights shimmered in the distance, casting a soft glow upon the streets below. I took a deep breath, trying to shake off the exhaustion that weighed on my shoulders.

As I walked along the dimly lit sidewalk, my thoughts were still consumed by the events of the day. I couldn’t help but wonder about Dacre and the undeniable connection I had felt whenever we interacted.

I turned around a corner and came to a sudden halt. There, in the shadows, I saw Roux, locked in a passionate kiss with another woman. My heart sank, and a wave of emotions washed over me — embarrassment, confusion, anger, and an unexpected twinge of jealousy.

As if sensing my presence, Roux’s eyes opened mid-kiss, and his gaze locked with mine. Time seemed to stand still as our eyes met, and my heart pounded loudly.

In that moment of connection, I saw a mixture of surprise, guilt, and confusion in his eyes.

Without a second thought, I turned on my heel and ran, wanting to escape the tumultuous emotions swirling within me. My mind raced with questions, with a myriad of feelings that I struggled to make sense of.

I ran through the darkened streets, my footsteps echoing in the quiet night. Tears stung my eyes, and I couldn’t help but feel hurt by what I had witnessed.

“Teagan,” Roux said softly, his voice filled with remorse. “I’m sorry.”

He gently draped the jacket of his tuxedo around my shoulders, shielding me from the cool night breeze. Without hesitation, he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close in a comforting embrace.

I didn’t say anything, but I didn’t pull away either. I allowed myself to be enveloped by Roux’s warmth, finding solace in his embrace despite the turmoil of emotions swirling inside me.
