"Morning swim?" Rose yawned as she turned over in her bed, knocking something off of it. Before she could wake herself up enough to care Belly had picked it up.
"Rose what the hell?" Belly was surprised as she held a dab pen between her fingers.
Rose jumped down from her bunk, taking it back. "Bells it's not a huge deal, just don't tell Susannah." she went to crawl back into bed when Belly stopped her.
"Are you using again?" Belly was more serious than ever. She'd never been around Rose when she was using, but Belly had overheard calls from Susannah.
"No it's just weed, chill the fuck out." Rose left the room instead to go downstairs and get something to eat.
Jeremiah and Steven were preparing for their first day on the job as Rose came into the kitchen. "Muffins." she knew they'd understand, seeing Conrad pointing to the box on the counters.
"Baby." Susannah held her daughter's face to check on her as the brothers watched.
"Mama I'm just tired." Rose pushed her away as Susannah looked defeated. "I'm gonna shower." she turned around and went upstairs with a muffin in her hands.
Conrad cursed under his breath before sitting back down on the couch, needing to find plans for the summer.
"I want iced coffee." Belly came into the living room to find Conrad and Rose, who was on her third muffin.
"Same, I'll drive." Rose stood up and went to get her keys from the rack.
Belly hesitated before following her outside of the house. "Are you okay to drive right now?" she awkwardly asked, trying not to offend her friend.
"I'm sober Bells, only last night and that was over 8 hours ago now." Rose promised as she got into her car, putting the muffin on her lap. "Don't worry about me."
"Okay." Belly replied silently as they drove with continued normal conversation. She wouldn't stress as much about Rose if she didn't see how much it stressed Conrad and Jeremiah, who loved their sister more than anything.
They pulled into a local coffee placed as Rose parked decently. "So many suggestions for you Bells, all super sweetened don't worry." Rose promised as she locked her car.
"I still can't believe your parents got you this car for your 16th." Belly laughed as she admired it. "A whole ass Mercedes."
"Adam's apology gift for being an absent father." Rose joked as she walked inside. "I mean it helped I guess." she shrugged as she approached the counter.
The girls both ordered before getting back into the car, driving back to the house. "We are home!" Belly cheered as Conrad whisper-yelled in response for her to be quieter. "Sorry!" she whispered again.
"Mom is sleeping." Conrad looked way more distressed about it than he should have been. "Can I talk to you for a minute Roselyn? Alone." his tone made Belly feel unwelcome as Conrad let his sister up to his room, closing the door.
"What the fuck is wrong?" Rose snapped at him as soon as they were alone, slumping down onto his bed.
Conrad growled in annoyance. "Can you not be so fucking immature for a second?"
"Yeah." Rose sounded scared, she knew he would never hurt her, but his tone.
"Can you just do the deb thing for Mom?" Conrad was pleading. "And not be a brat about it for once?"
Rose swallowed and nodded. "Why do you care so much? I thought you said all debs were sheep." she recycled his words.
"If it makes Mom happy." Conrad replied soundly before calming down his tone. "I'm sorry, just not in a good mood."
"Alright." Rose nodded as she got up to go back downstairs. "I'll do this deb thing." her brother's begging was more convincing than anything.
Soon enough dinner came and Rose got to break the good news to her mom. "Mom I think Rose has something to tell you." Conrad cleared his throat as Jeremiah shot him a look, he couldn't tell if his brother was joking or being a dick.
"Yes baby?" Susannah turned to give her daughter her undivided attention.
"I'll uh do this whole deb thing." Rose smiled as she said it, genuinely smiling when her mother threw her arms around her.
Belly looked at Laurel who nodded. "You know what, me too." she added as Susannah was practically jumping with joy, planning out everything.
"Thank you." Conrad mouthed to Rose who settled back into her chair.
"Deb balls mean you have to start dressing nicer okay?" Susannah shook Rose's shoulders teasingly. Rose buried her face in her hands before looking up at Jeremiah, who looked concerned. "Meds." she handed her daughter two pills which she pounded back alongside some diet coke.
Conrad cleared his throat and left the room at that, hating how casually they glossed over his sister's problems.
