Marin looked around in the dark alley. It hasn't been too long since the last time she's been here. Maybe a few monthes, tops.
I certainly have no clue who that mysterious kitten was.
"Hello?" Marin asked into the darkness.
Nothing answered her.
A gush of wind blew out from inside, and she padded closer and closer to the end of the alley. "Hello?" She asked again.
Still nothing.
Marin sighed and jumped from the ground to a roof, stepping on a few bins and cans. There was a clang and a clash and she was on top. She could see her den from there, and she saw her mother reading a book with her legs on the table, looking very relaxed.
I guess she does relax and feel better if we leave her alone. She thought, and turned around to look at the direction that tomcat ran off to. She blew a breath, ruffling the tip of her little head and ran.
She was getting faster by the second. She really wanted to know about Lily's secret life, and why she was always sneaking out of the house at night, when she thought everyone was asleep.
Did I not tell you about that? Sorry.
Marin usually doesn't sleep, and she keeps one eye above her blanket and one beneath, just in case something happened and she couldn't defend herself. She thought her sister knew that, but I guess not. Lily always makes some pretty loud sounds when she trys to escape her den without going through the door, and Marin always wondered where she goes.
"It's my time to find out!" She muttered quietly, under her breath.
She kicked up a little dust and went even faster.
She ran for a few more minutes, and suddenly saw something moving underneath her, since she was on the roof, and she could see things under her as she ran past the gaps of two dens' roof.
She used her claws to scratch the roof she was on to stop herself and jumped down.
"HEY! Why did you- Oh wait. Sorry, I thought you were my brother," said a little tomcat who was down there, eating some small mice. It smelled fresh with blood.
"What's your name?" Marin hissed at him, making him jump back.
"U-um, my name's Adrian," He looked at Marin with terrified eyes. He quickly pushed the mice toward her, stammering, "I-If you want my money, I don't have any...You can have the m-mice, just don't hurt me, p-please!"
"I'm not going to hurt you," Marin said, "and you can keep the mice. I have more of my own. And don't worry, I'm looking for somebody, but it's not you."
"Oh, thank goodness!" Adrian said, jumping toward his food and munching on it.
"Is this your den?" Marin asked gesturing toward a small, cozy-looking den.
"Nah, if's das fon," Adrian said with a mouth full of mice, pointing to a small, broken, and haunted looking den. He swallowed hard. "Sorry. It's that one. I know, right? Spooky looking. But it's really alright. No monsters or ghosts, don't worry. Who are you? What are you looking for? Oh! Do you want to know about my brother? He just went off, like, a few minutes ago- he's SO annoying! Like-"
"Okay, stop talking," Marin snapped. "I'm not here to chit chat."
"Sorry," He apologized. "But what's your name?"
"Marin," Marin answered, "and I come from all the way over there." She pointed south, where her den was.
"Oh! My brother also went that way earlier! Actually, no way earlier! Like, twenty minutes ago? Ten? Just some time ago," Adrian exclaimed. "Did you meet him? He said he was going there to meet with someone. Oak? Ooyla? I forget. Oh wait! Oaklia! Something like that."
