INT. BIRD ROOM - NIGHT
The background shows the sun setting to signal dinner time. The birds are eating their own food in their individual food bowls, and MOM is eating fried rice at the dinner table, which is to the right of the bird cages.
BLUEY
I'm still in denial that Angie is my girlfriend, that I have a girlfriend!
PEAR
I know, but aren't you hungry? Let's eat first.
BLUEY
I don't have much of an appetite when all I can think of is her.
MIKA
Pear, I have a question.
PEAR
(with his beak full of seeds)
What?! I'm eating. Can't you tell?
MIKA
Bluey, can I talk with you privately?
Bluey follows Mika into the other side of the bird room away from Pear.
MIKA
I wanted to ask Pear if he thinks about me all the time, but now I'm not so sure.
BLUEY
Hey, don't cry! I've been with him longer than you have, and trust me, he always puts food first. I'm his best friend, and he even bites me and ignores my hunger.
MIKA
I just don't know if he still loves me.
BLUEY
He does! He talks to me about you all the time, about your sweet personality, your perfect crest, your glistening eyes, you name it!
MIKA
Okay, I trust you. We've been good friends for four months.
The two birds walk back to Pear and Angie. Bluey looks at Mom, who is eating at the dinner table.
BLUEY
I want food! I want food!
Bluey flies to his mirror.
BLUEY (CONT'D)
Bubbles, do you want food, too? I can bring some over!
ANGIE
Mika, what's going on? Who's Bubbles?
MIKA
Oh, male birds tend to believe that the bird in the mirror is their "other" mate. For Bluey, he named her Bubbles, and for Pear, he named her Ava.
ANGIE
Are you ever jealous?
MIKA
Listen, I'll never know when they'll realize Bubbles and Ava aren't real.
