Jet
I tried my best to keep up with the steps of Zuko; Sokka and I were trailing about two minutes behind him, but I could see his shadow in the distance, the moonlight highlighting him nicely as he strolled towards a mountain.
I wondered what he was planning. Maybe he was going to firebend some sort of signal to other firebenders.... of course.
I scowled, annoyed.
"Jet..." Sokka caught my ear after a few moments of silence, "Are you going to answer my question or not? I can turn around at any point." He grumbled, sounding tired and annoyed.
I groaned, "Sokka, why is it such a big deal to know?"
"Because. I want to know why you used him... why you used me-"
"Used?" I stopped for a second, staring a Sokka in disbelief, "I dont know what the AshMaker is filling your head with, but I never used either of you."
"Oh?" Sokka tilted his head, crossing his arms, "What were you doing then?"
I scoffed, shaking my head in frustration, "Ever get in your thick little watertribe skull that I liked you?"
"Ha!" Sokka snorted, obviously not taking me seriously at all.
"Well, I did. I kissed you that day because I thought you liked me back... it wasn't about convincing you to help me." I snapped, stepping forward, pretty much towering over Sokka's shorter frame, "You're funny, and cute. I liked that about you, and I felt a connection. Was I crazy?"
"A connection? What about Zuko?" Sokka scrunched his nose up at me, shaking his head. He didn't seem to believe me.
I glanced behind him, almost forgetting that we were supposed to be following 'Zuko'. Shit.
"He's disappeared." I growled, pushing passed Sokka as I tried to go in the last direction I saw him headed.
"Avoiding the answer doesn't help convince me to stay." Sokka called after me, but still following.
"I'm not." I rolled my eyes again, not wanting to admit the truth, but knowing Sokka wouldn't let up until I told him, "It never went far. I mean, I went to kiss him and he freaked out."
Sokka caught up to my speed, glancing up at me as he walked beside me, "So you just felt like kissing him? Nothing led to that-"
"It doesn't matter, really. It doesn't. Nothing ever came of us, and he's a firebender. You know how I feel about them." I growled, looking around desperate to figure out where he went off to.
"Feelings change all the time, Jet." Sokka sighed, "I think that's him." He grabbed my arm, pointing off to our left.
In the distance, a shadow could be seen making its way between two large rock formations.
I grinned, marching in the direction he was heading, picking up my pace in hopes to get closer. Sokka followed.
After a few seconds of silence, and catching up, Zuko's view became clearer. It was definitely him. He wasn't moving very fast, and seemed to be cautious in the directions he took.
"Jet, duck!" Sokka suddenly shouted from beside me. Instantly my heart picked up pace, and I dropped to the ground, Sokka dropping beside me as we both tumbled down the side of the path we were on, coming to a stop with Sokka half on top of me.
Just as we stopped I felt a swoosh of air hit us as huge wings flew over, narrowly missing the both of us.
"Shit, good eye." I breathed out, as Sokka pushed himself upwards to get a look at what just came at us.
