"Arianna Louise Campbell!" someone shouted my name from downstairs, and I could determine by the use of my full name that my father wasn't pleased.
"I am coming, daddy!" I knew he hated when I called him 'daddy', so that would teach him a lesson for using my full name.
"Prepare me a coffee," was the first thing he said when he saw me, and I knew he wouldn't say another thing before drinking his cup of strong coffee.
"There," I told him while sitting next to him.
"Do you want me to drive you to school this morning?"
I was surprised by his offer but was joyful that he wanted to make an effort for me.
"Sure, that would be great!", I chirped.
"Alright, let's go!" he exclaimed.
"Hum...dad..."
"Yes, Arianna," he said while turning around.
"You are still in pyjamas!"
He blankly looked at me before grinning and I shook my head while smiling at him.
"You know what? Never mind, let's go!"
"But I am not changed!" he insisted.
"And I don't care! Who has the right to judge you anyway, it's your life, right?"
He understood the real meaning behind my words, that I wasn't mad at him for not taking care of me during these horrible 263 days, but we were okay now, we were okay.
We hopped into the car as he drove down the alley of students. I saw Meg and Steph waiting for me in front of the gate so I asked my dad to pull over.
"Wait, why don't you come with me?" I was feeling cheerful today and decided to stop caring about my popularity just for one day.
"You want me to come with you to class?" he asked me.
"No! Just walk with me to say hi to my friends, you haven't seen them in ages!" I saw that he was hurt by the truth, Steph and Meg always hanged out at my house but my father was always in his office, writing.
"But I am in pyjamas!"
"That's the point!"
I saw that he was confused and thought I was crazy but did what I suggested anyway.
He put his arm around my shoulders before walking to the girls with a wide smile.
"Hello Mr. Campbell!" the two girls greeted while looking at me with exclamation points in their eyes.
I just smiled at them.
"Good morning ladies, how have you been?"
"Really good, sir," Meg answered.
"Well, I won't make you late, I will pick you up at 5," he continued.
"But dad you don't have to-
"But I want to!" he assured me.
With a sudden impulse, I hugged him as hard as I could, trying to explain him, without words, the affection I had for him.
He hugged me back tight then gently pushed me away before saying "Well, I will let you go as you don't want to be seen with an old guy like me!" it was his way to hide his embarrassment and leave as soon as possible so we couldn't see that his eyes had filled with tears.
"What was that?" screamed Meg, which immediately snapped me back to reality.
"Nothing, why?" I responded while smiling.
"Come on, it's not nothing! I haven't seen your father that happy since...you know..."
"Well, me neither," I simply responded before walking towards our next class, ending the conversation.
"Hey, wait!" Steph called me.
"Yeah?"
"Meg and I talked this week-end about something..."
"I am listening," I patiently waited for her to tell me what was on her mind.
"Well...You know Nick?"
"Yeah...Where is this going? Get to your point!" I hurried her.
"We thought that what he did to you was unacceptable and we think you should teach him a lesson."
I smiled at her words, that was what best friends were for, right? Creating unimaginable plans to destroy your enemy. But I have to admit that I agreed with her, he didn't treat me well, he should pay for it.
"Tell me everything!" I exclaimed, I wasn't in a hurry anymore!
"What do you think?" she eagerly asked when she finished, hoping I would like her mischievous plan.
"It's amazing!" I said while energetically clapping.
