~ᴍɪᴄʜᴀᴇʟ~

"Why can't I just be left alone?", I mumbled as I walked further and further from the school. As I walked into the 'bad' part of town, the houses became smaller and more run down and the smell of cigarettes filled the air. I crossed over onto the other side of the street and into an alley, stone brick walls on either side of me. The bright neon light above a door illuminated the alley and the music inside was almost deafening. I walked up to a big muscular man standing by the door and nodded. He did the same and let me in. I walked down the small flight of stairs that lead onto the dance floor, squeezed my way through the sweaty, drunk masses and finally got to the elevator at the other end of the room. I stepped into it and hurriedly clicked on the floor I was going to when I saw a drunk lady stumbling towards the elevator. It closed just as she was about to get in and started to move.

'Monday night and this place is so full? Do people not have jobs anymore?'

The elevator dings and the door opens. I step out and walk down the long hall before stopping at a door with a plaque nailed into it. Boss.

"Hey hey!", I say as I open the door and walk in. The eerie feeling I always got whenever I walked into the large, dim-lit room, was back again. I shut the door behind me and walked closer to the table in the middle of the room. Behind it was a large painting of a horse, I've always liked that painting, probably because I was the one that picked it. Horses will forever hold a special place in my heart. I never really understood that phrase though, the heart isn't responsible for anything related to your like and dislike for something, maybe...

"Michael! Are you even listening?!", Boss said, standing from her seat and walking towards me.

"Oh sorry, zoned out for a bit there"

"Where were you yesterday? Derrick tried to reach you but you weren't picking up"

"Oh that, uhm... I have this neighbour and uhm....I was helping her pack stuff....and uh.."

"You overslept didn't you?"

"Maybe"

"I- We needed you Michael", she said. now standing in from of me looking unamused.

"Yeah, yeah, I know, but everything was alright wasn't it?"

"We lost 5 of our people last night Michael...You can't keep being careless and nonchalant with things like this, I'm sorry but I have to tell my dad about the way you've been acting"

"Oh come now", I said, moving closer to her and wrapping my arms around her waist. "I'm sorry, I won't do it next time I promise"

She shook her head. "You said that last time, I can't keep keeping things from my dad, he'll find out eventually"

"Hmm really?", I moved my head down to her ear and pressed my lips against her neck. She stayed silent and I sighed before looking up at her, "I'm sorry mi amor", I gently placed a silver strand behind her ear, "It won't happen again"

She sighed and gently pushed me away, "Stop it, we needed you and you figured sleep was more important"

"Sylvia, come on, I said I was sorry"

She sighed and brought her fingers up to her temples, gently massaging them. "Get out"

"Sylvia", I said, gently taking her hands into mine.

"Shut the door behind you", she took her hands away and walked back to her desk.

I sighed and walked out. I walked back down the hall and waited impatiently for the elevator to come while typing away on my phone

"A basket of flowers and chocolates ought to do the trick", I mumbled as I added a  few other items to the cart before clicking on the order button. The elevator finally arrived and within minutes, I was back outside. I checked my phone for the time and exhaled. 7:45

I walked back home, passing by the back end of the school when I saw two people on the field. Now I couldn't care less but when I saw that one of them was Chloe, I couldn't resist. I watched him slowly lean down to kiss her and lifted up my phone to take a picture. Why, you may ask? I don't know, for fun? or to use it as some sort of blackmail? It'll be useful someday, I say to myself as I continue to take a few pictures of both of them. Just then, Flynn's eyes meet mine and he moves away from her. He said something, took his things and started walking towards the exit, where I was, crouched behind some bushes. He walked out, gave me a death stare, muttered something and walked away. I hated him so much. He hadn't done anything to me directly...yet, but I just don't trust him. You know those kinds of people that are too good to be true? Yh he's one of them. I shrugged my thoughts off and walked into the field, she was down on the ground with her head in her hands and I smiled. Cute.

"So uh, you're just gonna sit here till it gets dark?", I said, moving closer and towering over her

She flinched and then looked up at me, her confusion instantly becoming anger. "Leave me alone"

"Nah, I don't want to"

She stood and started walking away when I pulled her back by the wrist and placed my other hand gently on her waist, "I didn't say you could leave beautiful"

"What do you want from me?", she said, placing her hands on my chest and trying to push me away but I held onto her tight. I pulled her closer to me, her body now pressed against mine.l leaned down to kiss her when I felt a sharp sting across my face. I let go of her and held onto my cheek. She slapped me.

"I said, Leave me alone", she said, took her things and walked out. I watched her leave, my mouth agape as I was speechless. This girl really was something else, a smile slowly formed as I let go of my cheek and watched the sunset.

"You'll give in one day, and I'll be waiting, beautiful"
