"My mind forgets to remind me,
You're a bad idea.
You touch me once,
And it's really something.
You find I'm even better
Than you imagined I would be."• F o u r •
Sparks FlyIt's been days. Klaus and Elijah were MIA. The former ran off with Camille after Davina who was apparently unable to be located even with a locator spell. And the latter was working with Marcel, building up a new team of vampires to combat the werewolves with moonlight rings who apparently worked for Esther— as she made the magical rings they were grateful for.
My search for Esther on my own was futile. I was distracted by my friends. It was rude but I almost couldn't wait for them to leave in three days. "You know that Kaleb kid is kind of cool, surprisingly," Liam said as he barged into my bedroom.
I closed my laptop, turning to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "And why would you say that? Have you seen him?" I asked.
I hadn't seen or talked to Kaleb since our double date. Nor Davina. Not that I reached out to either. Klaus said she wasn't even taking calls from her friend, Cami—Klaus' therapist.
"Tamara and I ran into at that record store last night. The two of them hit it off. Thick as thieves. I never seen Tamara not hate someone entirely," Liam joked.
I rolled my eyes, "He's okay."
Liam snorted, "A week and a half ago you two hit it off. In a different way, less platonic." He wiggled his eyebrows for effect.
"I will hit you."
"Anyways, he's joining us for brunch."
"What?" I frowned. "No."
"Yes."
"Liam!"
"Are you ready to go?"
I frowned, nodding, "I just need my shoes."
I stood up from the small desk, grabbing the brown wedged sandals I picked up to match my denim dress. Liam waited in the doorway as I put my shoes on. Then we left together, taking the ten minute walk to argue about a dozen unimportant things.
When we arrived a the cute little restaurant we realized we were late. Tamara, Kaleb, and Cassidy were already here. The latter of which was waving us over. "Finally. Mimosas all around. Take a seat you two," Cassidy grinned.
At the head of table was Cassidy. That left two as Tamara and Kaleb sat at the other end of the table across from each other. Liam nudged me with his elbow, walking around the table to sit next to Tamara. I sat down between Kaleb on my right and Cassidy to my left.
I could practically feel his blue-green eyes as he looked me over, head to toe. "Hey," he whispered the moment I settled into my seat.
I raised a brow at him, "Hi."
His lips quirked upwards. My heart skipped a beat. He looked like the same, mischievous boy I met. The coldness in his eyes from our double date had left. Instead there was warmth. And... perhaps heat as he licked his lips, staring at me like I was the meal he was about to have. I squirmed uncomfortably.
Kol. Think of Kol. The idea that I was so close to having him back had rid of any feelings for Zander and pushed Kaleb from my thoughts. But unlike the Aussie, seeing Kaleb in person changes things. Stirred me in ways I hoped he would no longer.
"You look... good," he whispered to me, his knee purposely bumping mine.
"Kaleb," I said through clenched teeth, "Do not start." Kol. Kol. Kol. Kol would kill this boy. I had to shake this off. I didn't want there to be any complications when I got my husband back. Especially not this wave of familiarity and... electric chemistry with another man—A boy.
