well maybe not the whole truth

The whole room was eerily quiet after the news was announced that the Lt. Commander didn't just know the girl but in fact was one of the people who rescued her. It was not disappointment or anger at the Commander but rather a sense of pride and understanding. For many of these men they have rescued dozens if not hundreds of individuals over their careers. Of that group only a handful stories have ever been shared with the group, and an even smaller handful have met the men. Those were the ones who became like family, those were the ones that were household names. Now Zoë Kai was being added to that list, and for some reason it felt right. Not that her mothers suffering was right, but being with this group and these men did. The young girl looked as if she was another one of their kids. The only difference was the sound of her dog tags clinking up and down as she chased Jeemelah and Gracie around the yard as per requested by the young girl.

Jason was the first to speak up, after a few minutes. "So how are we supposed to use her as our translator as her pyscho father and terrorists are after her?" Mandy was semi relived that was the only question being asked at the moment. "That's the beauty of this. No one knows she's with you. No one knows that there's a new member of bravo. So what do you guys say, you'll take on this mission?" The men of bravo stood all looking at each other for a few moments having a silent conversation "Were going to test her out, Mandy but we can't make any promises. In the mean time; how are we going to handle this." All the men looked at Jason a tad confused but let him continue. "I mean between foster homes and the state is she really safe. I mean she almost just got kidnapped, and there's human trafficking invovled, terrorists and who knows what else. What are we going to do? If part of the governments plan is wanting to keep her safe it doesn't sound like the best plan to me."
Mandy nodded and looked around "alright, I don't blame you there. You're right it's not safe so does anyone have any other ideas." It was soon decided that they best be keeping Zoë close to them, and not other better way to keep her close then to have her stay in the cages. As Bravo talked about their plan, Hannah managed to speak to her superiors about the situation and after some speaking back and forth it was decided that it might be best that the State of Virginia no longer involve themselves in this matter, and the US navy, more specifically the members of bravo team take over. Not just take over her case but more specifically take over custody. Thankfully the SEALs had a JAG lawyer named JJ Hitchcock a hot shot from Alabama who knew his way around a gun and a courtroom was able to sway the state to hand over custody, no questions asked and in record time. In fact, the state basically apologized to JJ for taking so long to solve this matter. As JJ walked into the cages, cowboy boots on under his dress uniform long hair and a beard the men all clapped. "Hitchy you basterd, you did it again!" Jason exclaimed as the men high fived each other and the commander reached out to shake the captains hand. "Any time boys, now I'm off back to Washington. You take care of that girl." Bravo all agreed profusely and watched as the man who saved the day walked away the cowboy boots spurs shining against the LED lights in the hallway of the base, giving the hope that maybe just maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel of ZK.

ZK Pov

The way the JAG lawyer walked out seemed like the end of some hero villain story, obviously him being the hero. As the door to the hallway shut, Bravo came down the hall and stood in front of me. It was almost eleven thirty at night, and I had spent the whole day with them. The last seven hours here on base after it was decided that the state of Virginia was doing an absolutely shitty job of taking care of me. Maybe that's why I had a panic attack earlier with Derek? I'm so fucking afraid of what's going to happen with my dad. Jason's the first to speak "sorry kid your stuck with us." He has little emotion in his voice but from his facial expression I could tell he wasn't upset or dissatisfied by the result. More so he looked almost pleased but it's hard to gage to the extent of his emotions. I mean all of them, it's like trying to read brick walls. Speaking of brick walls, that's all I can seem to focus on while bravo talks amongst themselves and towards me. Everything was going in one ear and out the other, god can everyone just shut up. I must've said the last thing out loud instead of to myself because the group stops and all look towards me in a bit of shock. "Sorry, I didn't mean it. Just a lot of voices and a lot of people. It's overwhelming." The same overwhelming feeling I felt a year ago on that night.
