LOOK who's back from the dead!
More pins were put into Lily's hair, pulling it into a beautiful bun, but she wasn't happy with it. She pulled some strands out, curving to her face perfectly, just as she likes it. Hagrid turned back around, glaring at the young girl. "Why must you do that?" she asked, half annoyed and half happy. She was happy the girl was making her hair suit her more but upset knowing she wouldn't hear the end of it from the princess's mother.
"This ball is for me, I should at least be happy."
Hagrid smiled, but it wasn't a full smile. She knew after this night she would never see the princess again. A girl she loved as her own being taken away to rule a kingdom that she will never see. Both women knew. "Would you like to do your makeup too?" she asked.
"Yes please," Lily replied, grabbing the mascara and coated her lashes, allowing the strands to darken, becoming longer. It helped give her more doe eyes, as if she was prey. That's how she felt at least, this big ball was supposed to be a celebration of her sixteenth birthday, but the dark meaning slowly crept up. She knew this was her father throwing her to the wolves, greedy men wishing to become king, not to fall in love. She knew they would try anything to become king, even making themselves seem like the purest soul. But they weren't. None of them were.
Slip away while they drink.
It made Lily stop in mid swipe of lipstick. She just noticed she had the brightest red. The memory of his eyes caused the girl to shake.
I wont hurt you princess. I'm trying to save you.
Her body started to feel at ease as he continued to give her words of comfort, he told her everything she dreamed of. She nodded to herself, knowing what she had to do.
Lily set her mirror down, making sure her lipstick was perfect before she walked out. She wanted everything to be perfect for him. From her makeup to the act, she had to do to slip away unseen. She needed everything to be perfect.
"Please stand for Princess Lily." The music started as she started to walk out, the room full of people, all eyes on her. She could feel her stomach churning, the whole room had their eyes on her, something she was never used to. She's been sheltered her whole life; this is the biggest party she's had and it's only to wed her off to some spoiled prince so he could become king and probably cheat on her, or worse, kill her.
Come to me princess.
His words were like ice on a hot summer day, her body melting into his words the more he spoke. His words were alluring, almost distracting her mid walk, but she had to push on. Her eyes met her mothers, so soft, full of worry and yet so filled with joy. Her daughter is finally an adult. A bittersweet moment that came too soon for the both of them.
A prince swiftly pulled Lily away, starting the dancing all around the ballroom. It was too quick, or rather she was too stuck in her head to realize anything that was happening. He spoke to her, words she wouldn't be able to tell you even if they were on a scripture, her mind too far gone from the ball that already begun, she had to find a way to get out of there.
As she twirled around, she could feel her father's eyes on her, watching to make sure none of the prince's got too handsy, watching her face to make sure they weren't whispering a threat. She had to get out of there.
Lily continued to twirl around, grabbing random peoples open hands, hoping to get lost in the crowd, which she succeeded when she seen her father stand, motioning to the guards to start walking through the crowd to locate her. Now is my chance. She thought, pushing through everyone to get to the nearest door, slipping out right in front of the servers.
Slipping her heals off, she made a dash down the hall.
Good girl.
