Whilst we Breathe

Chapter Two

Here  I am,
standing on the
My head up high
Breathing in the refreshing air.
I can feel the peace
Settling deep inside of me.
            
         

I walked into the crowded hall way, pushing my way through I managed to get to my locker without being squashed.
" Hey Chels ", a familiar voice said beside me and I looked up to see my best friend in the whole wild and wide world.
" Oh my, Katina ", I squealed as I engulfed her in an embrace. It's been weeks since I last saw her and it was just so exciting to see her again. "  I missed you ", I declare as  I released her.
"  I missed you too Chels ", she said and held my hand.
"  Uh, I don't ever want you to go away, have I made myself clear ",  I state in a stern tone.
" Yes, Missy ", she smiled and pulled me into another embrace.
It was so cool to have my bestie back, she went to Hawaii for the spring break and I couldn't  talk to see her or talk to her, sure we had phones but, funny cause there was no network........ in the part of Hawaii that she went.
" Chels we have to let go or else we would be late for homeroom classes ", she pointed out and I had to let her out of my grip.
" Well, I'm just letting you go till lunch break ", I said and turned to get my stuff from my locker.
"  Yeah ', she said and turn to her locker, which was one locker away from mine.
We got our stuff and schedule and both walked to our home room catching up on lost time.

" So what did I miss  ", she asked as we placed our tray on the table and took I our seat.
" Nothing much ", I shrug and took a bite of my burger before continuing." Except that Belinda and I went hiking ".
" Hiking! ", she exclaimed." I thought you said you would never ever go on a man slaughter event in the name of sport ", she state.
" Yeah I know, but Bel coaxed me and I just gave in beside we were safe we went with a crew ", I explained.
" So would you like to go hiking again ", She asked as she wiggled her eyebrows.
"  No, I was lucky this time, next time it would be real man slaughter ", I said as I felt shivers go through my spine.
" How, Bel got you to go I will never know ",  She mused.
"  Yeah, Bel is a case ", I chuckled as I kept eating.
" Speaking of Bel, where is she ", She asked as she sipped her milk shake.
" She went on a trip with her dad, would be back in a few days ", I replied."  So how was Hawaii ", I asked.
" Don't even get me started ", she gushed." I don't know where my dad found the uncultured and undeveloped town he took us to ", She snickered.
"  Was it that bad ", I questioned.
" It was...........It was................ It was the worst place I've ever been to ", she yelled.
" From your countenance, I can tell it was really bad ", I nodded in approval." Though weird for a state such as Hawaii ", I pointed out.
" In that case never judge a book by its cover, I'm telling from experience ", she state.
" Noted ", I said." So nothing fun happened there ? ".
" Well.......... ", she paused." I met this really cute boy, he was everything I wanted in a boy ", she said with dreamy eyes.
" You say that about every cute boy you meet ", I noted.
" Not this one, he's different ", She insists.
" Oh,someone is in love ", I cooed.
" Who said anything about love ", she shook her head in disapproval." I ain't falling in love with no body ".
" So he's everything you want in a boy but you don't want to fall in love ", I asked with a bewildered look.
" Of course ", She said with a shrug.

Why she had so much resentment to love I would never know, just like how I will never know how every cute boy catches her eyes but she can't let herself love them.
