(Akutagawa pov)
I was told to meet the were-tiger in an alley behind a popular cafe at midnight for a joint mission. I had gotten to the location a little earlier than expected, so I went into the cafe. There weren't many people there because it was roughly 23:30.
"Hey, young sir! Would you like to order something from our midnight menu?" A girl with blonde hair, black eyes, and a blue dress asked. I didn't know if I should get anything because I was on a mission, but I asked for a black coffee. "Coming right up, sir!" The girl said, before going to the back.
As I was waiting, I heard a 'ding' at the entrance. At the front was Atsushi. Atsushi noticed me and walked over. "Hey, Akutagawa. Do you know the details of this mission? Dazai told me that mister Fukuzawa set up a joint mission here." Atsushi said, slightly stepping back to give me room.
"I honestly don't know much. Chuuya said to just stay here until closing," I responded. "Maybe there's some type of organization that works here." As I was speaking the woman from earlier came back with my order.
"Here's your order, sir. Enjoy," The woman said before turning to Atsushi. "Oh, hi Atsushi! It's been so long," The woman exclaimed.
"Hey, Rui," Atsushi responded, giving a glare to the girl. Atsushi turned to me and whispered, "Can we leave? Rui isn't the type to be kind to people like me." I nodded. After nodding, I handed Rui the payment for the coffee and left with Atsushi.
"So... who is Rui?" I asked, taking a sip of my coffee.
"Rui was one of the kids at the orphanage who was really unkind to me for no reason," Atsushi responded, frowning.
"So... she's just a bitch with no life, so she bullies people?" I asked. Atsushi chuckled at my little summary of Rui. His smile is so... cute. I want to protect it forever.
"That's kind of right," Atsushi said. I cared about Atsushi, but I wouldn't admit that. When I heard about Rui, some type of urge to kill washed over me.
"I'm going back in. Stay here, were-tiger," I said, before leaving the alley and going into the cafe. "Rui, follow me, please." Rui looked in my direction and smirked.
"Or what? You gonna beat me up? You can't do that. I'm a girl," Rui said like the asshole she was. After hearing that, I grabbed her by the neck and snapped it.
"Pathetic. I didn't even have to use Rashomon on you," I said, walking out of the cafe.
"Akutagawa, what were you doing in there?" Atsushi asked.
"Nothing. I just left my phone in there," I smiled at Atsushi for the first time that night. "I was wondering if you wanted to... hang out after this mission?" I asked, not making eye contact.
"I would love to! But if you try to kill me, I'll kill you first," Atsushi responded, showing his adorable smile. Why does he have to be so cute?
