As Tanjiro wakes up a terrible feeling washes over him. 'I hope my family was able to manage while I was gone' he thinks.

As he gets out of the futon, he is greeted by Saburo. "Ohayo Tanjiro!" He says.

"Ohayo Saburo-San." He replies. "I should probably get going soon" He states as he hurriedly gathers his things and leaves old man Saburo's house, up the mountain. "Thank you once again Saburo-San!" He yells towards the house.

As he makes his way up the mountain the smell of blood slowly protrudes through his nostrils.
He notices how the closer he gets the stronger the smell. He then picks up the pace which he is running to a full sprint.

Once he arrives to the scene of his home, he can't move, he can't do anything but cry and stare in shock. The image of his home is now burned into his brain, his entire families bodies lay lifeless, covered in their own dark crimson blood. Tanjiro, still in shock, goes over to everybody to check their pulses.

Everyone is dead, that is, except for Nezuko.
Nezuko, she's alive! I need to save her, she's all I've got!

Tanjiro speeds down the mountain as fast as possible trying to get his younger sister to safety. But, as he dozed off into his thoughts, Nezuko shifts on his back, causing him to lose his footing, and fall down a small cliff.

Once he gets up, he sees Nezuko in the distance, standing up with her head down and her black and orange hair over her face. "It's okay Nezuko! You don't have to walk, I'll carry you to town!" He screams.

Suddenly, Nezuko leaps toward her brother, attempting to catch him off guard. Tanjiro shocked by this, pulls out his axe at lodges it between Nezuko's huge canines.

"Nezuko, what's wrong? Come on, please wake up, PLEASE? He begs in a crying tone.

As he tries to make Nezuko calm down, he smells someone approaching. Before the person is able to attack, Tanjiro rolls him and his sister to avoid the attack.

"Why are you protecting it?" The man jaws at them.

"She's my younger sister! She's all I've got!" Tanjiro screams in despair.

The man stands there, pointing his katana at the duo, with an intimidating look on his face. He has deep black hair, which glistens blue, and has beautiful blue eyes.

The man lunges towards the duo. Tanjiro, presumed that it was an attack, dodges out of the way with his sister in his arms.

'What? He dodged my attack?' The man thinks.
'How is that possible? I'm a seasoned Hashira, but this kid has had no training!' He screams to himself.

"Stop protecting that demon!" He screams at the boy.

"No! She's different than the rest, I promise! I will make sure she doesn't hurt a human, and I can find a cure!" He exclaims, in hope that the man will spare her.

"Kid, be realistic, there is no cure for demons, she's just gonna kill you." The man states.

"No! She would never hurt anybody!" Tanjiro pleads.

"Ok kid, I'll just watch you get eaten up then!" The man shouts.

Tanjiro then charges at the man, axe in hand. Je grips his axe with all his might, making it shine a bright red. 'What! How is his axe red?' The man thinks.

Tanjiro tries to swing at the man, but the man barely dodged. Him and the man go at this for quite a while, until eventually, the man has an opening and chops Tanjiro's neck with his hand.

'Damn, that kid has talent' he thinks. As he is distracted by the boy, the demon girl runs toward her brother seemingly to attack. "Shit! He's gonna get eaten!" He exclaims. But... what he saw shocked him.

The demon girl was standing in front of her passed out brother, as if protecting him. 'Hm, maybe these two really are different.' He ponders. Then, as the girl charges at him, he also chops her neck with his hand.

In Tanjiro's dream scape, he sees his family hugging him. "I'm sorry Tanjiro but we must go now" his mothers spirit says to him. "Wait! Mom please don't go!" Tanjiro says as his family vanishes.

Tanjiro then wakes up looking for his sister, who is next to him, alive. 'Oh thank god she's okay!' He thinks.

He then looks up to see the man. "My name is Giyuu Tomioka, the water pillar, I'd you wish to train your sword skills, go see an old man named Sakonji Urokodaki, who lives at the foot of Sagiri mountain." The man informs.
