Hilary's POV:
My visits to Neverland have become more frequent, and it's not because of my job. Actually, "Childhood" is already finished, and so is Smile. We recorded it together, and it was something magical.Spending time with Michael has given me another perspective of his life: he is a sweetheart. We've bonded so quickly. He's making a personal photo album with pictures of our adventures at Neverland, and I keep the drawing he gave me in a portrait, in a small table next to my bed. This is our way to keep each other's presence with us.
When I wasn't at Neverland, he called me at least once a day, and we talked for hours. He hasn't called me in almost three days, and I was starting to get worried, so I decided to call him.
I dialed his number and he didn't pick up the call.
Maybe he's busy, Hilary. He's the King of Pop...
I tried one more time, and then he finally answered.
-Yes?- he asked with a raspy voice, like he's been crying.
Something bad happened...
-Michael, are you okay?- I asked back.
-Oh Hilary, I'm so glad to hear your voice. I wish you were here with me- he replied and started to cry.
-Michael, I'm here. What happened? Why are you crying?- I asked one more time.
-She's dead. My friend is dead. She killed her, that woman killed her- he said in a very devastated tone.
-What?- I replied shocked.
-My friend, Selena, the Queen of Tejano music, my friend, my protégé: she's dead. Her fan club manager murdered her with a gun. She's was only 23 years old, Hilary. She didn't deserve this- he explained, almost drowning with his tears.
-Selena? The "Como la Flor" girl? OMG, Michael. I'm so sorry. I barely watch the news. I didn't know. May she rest in peace- I said back, covering my mouth, horrified.
I wasn't into Latino music, but I've listened to her music and it was beautiful and very well-known in America. She was such a graceful and talented person. I remember when I saw her at the Grammys, a few years ago. Life is so cruel.
-Look. Her memorial will take place tomorrow. I'm currently at Corpus Christi, Texas, with her family. They've always been close to me, and I wanna be here with them. Do you think you can do me a favor?- he asked.
-Sure. What do you want me to do? I'll help you- I said.
-I need you to go to Neverland. I left a cassette in my desk, that's my finished album. I need you to take it to Sony. The label's boss is pressuring me and I won't be in LA until Wednesday. Can you help me with that?- he asked again, with a pleading voice.
-Of course, Michael. I'll do it. You can trust me- I assured him.
-I know I can. Bill will pick you up tomorrow. When you're at the Sony Headquarters, you have to meet with Tommy Mottola, do you understand?- he explained carefully.
-Yeah, I got it. Don't worry. Take your time to grieve your friend's death, and tell her family I'm so sorry and I'll keep them and Selena in my prayers- I added.
-I will. Take care, okay? I'll see you soon Hilary. God bless you- he said in a whispery tone.
-God bless you. Bye- I replied and hung up the call.
The next day...
I woke up early in the morning, Bill picked me up and drove me to Neverland. I found the cassette exactly where Michael told me, and made my way back to the car.
