.Last Summer.
Yungyu sat at the edge of the pool, loud music booming from behind him. He watched his feet move through the cold water before looking up. To his surprise, a girl sat across from him, she stared inside of a red cup swirling around whatever mysterious liquid there was inside. She looked up to meet Yungu's eyes, she pulled a soft smile and nodded slightly acknowledging his presence. Yungyu nodded in return and continued looking down. He sat for a moment before reluctantly getting up and sitting next to the girl.
"Quite the party huh?" he laughed awkwardly making the girl turn to him with a confused face, before nodding. "Something like that, I guess" she said failing to meet the boys eyes. "Don't think we've met, I'm Lee Yungyu" he said slightly holding out his hand. "Hwang Iseul" she responded shaking his hand. This time she looked him in the eyes, she smiled kindly. Yungyus lips parted slightly looking at her face, Iseul let out a loud laugh. "W-what?" Yunngyu couldn't help but laugh shyly along with her. "Your face, you looked like you saw a ghost" she said shaking her head looking back to the doors that held the party inside. Yungyu thought for a moment, "I saw a ghost once" he said making Iseul turn her head and scoff. "Im sure you did, blueberry."
Iseul jolted from her pillow, turning off her alarm in the process. Rubbing her head she groaned at the dream, she picked up the phone to see a reminder pop up. 'First Day Back' showed on her screen, she sighed dropping back down into her sea of pillows. With in no time, she was ready fro school. She sat on the stone steps leading up to her house waiting patiently for her friend Cam to pick her up. The loud screeching of tire wheels came from down her street, she rolled her eyes grabbing her backpack and standing up. "Good morning my little mochi" Cam said unlocking the door to his car, Isuel scoffed at the nickname. "It happened again" she said slumping in the seat, Cam rolled his eyes.
"Listen, I get it. He was like your Prince Charming- if Prince Charming had a sound cloud and was really bad at skating. But for the love of god you cannot let him pester your dreams anymore" Cam ranted looking to the Iseul who sat quietly looking out the window. "Its been a month, yet the pain still feels fresh" she mumbled, Cam chuckled at her poetic words. He pat her hair and let out a sigh, "don't let him get to you, okay? He's not ruining OUR year" he said pulling into a parking spot.
Iseul reluctantly got out adjusting her uniform skirt. She looked to Cam who nodded to her fro reassurance. Iseul pushed open the doors to the loud and lively high school. Kids panicked finding their classes, some aggressively shoving notebooks and folders into lockers, and some finding their friends and chatting. Iseul took deep breathes walking to her locker, music blasted through her earbuds. Once getting into her locker, she quickly placed most of her school supplies int heir only taking out one notebook and folder. "Dude, it's the first day and you're gonna get our asses suspended!" an all to familiar voice to Iseul. She knew she would regret it but she needed to look, closing her locker slightly she caught sight of...him.
She noticed Yungyu's once dark electric blue hair had now faded into a pastel blue, his uniform tie loosely hung from his neck. Iseul watched as he sat on a bench laughing with his friends as they poorly attempted skating tricks with what could only be his skateboard. Iseul's mind went fuzzy watching him smile, laugh. Like he hadn't torn her heart out weeks prior and stomp on it. "Please stop looking at him, you're making me depressed" Cam said appearing next to her. "Do I really look that upset?" she questioned leaning onto her locker. Cam widened his eyes and awkwardly coughed, "he's staring at you." he mumbled. Iseul panicked noticing his sudden eye contact, Yungyu's bright smile faded slightly seeing her. That was enough former to grab Cams elbow and run to homeroom.
"You're such an ass" she whispered to Cam who sat in front of her. "Watch the potty mouth missy, you're just mad you are sitting alone" he hummed looking to the girl that sat next to him. Iseul rolled her eyes, the bell rang making the teacher stand up. In the middle of her boring introduction to chemistry, Yungyu bursted through the door out of breath. "Mr.Lee, pleasure for you to join us..." the teacher said distastefully. Yungyu flashed a charming smile, rubbing the back of his neck while looking around the classroom. Iseul sworn she saw red realizing the only seat left was right next to her. Yungyu let out a quick apology before racing for the seat next to Iseul. She shifted uncomfortably at his presence so close to her. A presence that once felt so warm and comfortable now making Iseul on the verge of tears or vomiting or both. "Hey um.. what are we doing?" Yungyu whispered to her. Iseul said nothing but sliding her paper slightly for him to copy down, this was gonna be a long year.
