In the morning, I took a shower and put on my red skirt and my blue T-shirt. Then I went downstairs and ate four pieces of toast and drank a cup of blood. Everyone else came down a little later.
"Hmm, you ate toast and blood," Steph said.
I rolled my eyes. "I lost blood yesterday so I needed it."
Blake winced. "I never got to apologize for that."
I scowled. "There is no need. It wasn't your fault."
"I should have known Mom and Dad would have sent more hunters there to protect Alice."
"Some protection," Steph muttered.
"Steph, shut up," I said glaring.
Blake smiled. "It's alright, Cat. He's right."
"No, he isn't," I growled.
"He calls you cat?" Steph said in amazement.
"So?" I snapped. Everyone has a nickname. Blake just gave me mine. That shouldn't bother Stephen.
"Easy, Catherine," Dad said.
I blinked. I was being overprotective for some reason.- I closed my eyes as the reason hit me. I was in love with him. I opened my eyes and looked at Blake. "I just realized I care about you as much as you care about me, Blake."
His eyes widened. "You do?"
"Yes." I kissed him.
"Ew," Steph said.
"Oh, grow up," I said after we broke apart.
"I grew up a thousand years ago."
I snorted. "Yeah, and you kissed how many people?"
He glared. "Not as many as you."
"You're right. You kissed more people than I have."
"He has a girlfriend again too," Dad said.
"Oh? And who will that be?" I asked smirking at my brother.
"Her name's Mia," Steph grumbled. "She knows what I am and wants me to turn her."
Oh. "Are you going to?" If he does then at least he would have what Mom and Dad have.
"I'm thinking about it."
"Do you love her enough to be together forever?" This turned from being mean to each other to helping one another.
He closed his eyes. "I've watched people I've loved die. Yeah, I love her but making her undead seems...wrong."
I nodded. I can understand that. "Did you tell her the process?"
"Yes, and she still wants to be one."
"And you don't want to watch her die, right?
"Right."
"If she hears about the process and still wants to be one then she loves you enough to go through it which means you won't have to go through that pain again."
There was a knock on the door and Steph bolted for the door before anyone else could make a move to. He came back with a beautiful girl who had blue eyes and brown hair. "This is Mia. Mia, these are my parents, my sister Catherine, and her boyfriend Blake," Stephen said.
Well, speak of the devil. "It's nice to meet you," I said politely. We had just been talking about you, I added silently.
"And you," Mia replied.
"Mia, do you still wish to be a vampire?" Steph asked.
"Yes."
"Then my sister will turn you."
I blinked. When did we discuss that? Though I think I already know why he said that. "Huh?"
"Why won't you?" Mia asked.
"Because I can't kill you," Steph said.
She nodded and looked at me. "Will you?"
I used my fangs to slice my arm and held it out to her. She swallowed three mouthfuls. I thought for a minute then snapped her neck. I caught her before she hit the ground and carried her to the couch. Mom set some blood bags on the coffee table for when Mia woke up.
"You could have done that," I told Stephen as I sat beside him.
"Could you kill Blake if he wanted to be a vampire?" Steph shot back. He was holding Mia's hand. Blake had gone somewhere with Dad.
"First, he's already immortal. Secondly, no, I wouldn't have been able to."
"Then why do you think I could have?"
"I wasn't talking about that part. I meant you could have given her your blood."
"Oh. I hadn't thought of that."
"Obviously."
We were quiet for a few minutes. Then Stephen broke the silence. "He might want to become one so he can be like you," he said quietly.
"He might," I replied.
"He'd make a badass vampire."
I smiled. "True."
"I'm sorry for how badly I treated him."
"It's fine. You were just being cautious."
Mia sat up with a start. "I'm hungry," she whined.
Steph opened one bag and handed it to her. She gulped it down and the rest of them too. Steph had opened them all so he could just hand them to her. Once they were gone Steph smiled. "You're a vamp now."
She grinned. "Good." Then she flung herself at him and they started kissing each other fiercely.
I stood and slipped out of the room. I went to the kitchen and sat at the table watching Mom do the dishes. "Mom, do you think Blake will want to be a vampire?" I asked.
She looked at me. "It's possible."
"He's already immortal."
"Yes, but hunters don't have a healing ability."
I nodded. "That's true."
"If he wants to be will you turn him?"
"I'll give him my blood but someone else will need to kill him."
She smiled. "I agree. But what if he went and had someone else do it without telling you?"
I frowned. "I won't be mad but I will be confused."
"Blake loves you."
I smiled. "I know. I love him too." Though we have yet to say that to each other. But Mom sees everything. So I had to answer properly.
"But you won't be mad if he makes this decision without you?"
"It's his choice so yeah, I won't be mad at him or whoever turns him. I just wish the hunters would stop coming after us." That way he wouldn't have to fight his family.
"I do too but Blake does know their moves. So we'll be fine that way. Besides, you can cloak us too."
I looked at her suspiciously. "Mom, are you hiding something?"
"No."
"Mom, I can tell. What did Blake tell you?"
She sighed. "He asked your dad to turn him and your father agreed. They left to take care of it."
I blinked. "Why didn't Blake tell me?"
"He wanted to surprise you."
I looked at the clock. "He should be turned by now."
She looked at the time too. "Yes, but your father must be showing him everything and explaining."
I smiled. "Knowing Dad, that's exactly what's happening."
"He's thorough."
"More like he likes to show off."
She smiled. "That too."
