The Targaryens called them dragon dreams, but in reality they were nightmares for those plagued by them. As Ayla laid in bed after another day at court, juggling time with Rhaenyra and Daemon, she drifted off into a peaceful sleep, until she got flashes of a brown haired boy on a dragon, then Lady Laena's dragon Vhagar who's rider was not her, but a silver haired man she did not recognize. She heard screams from the brown haired boy, and taunting from the other. And she kept hearing a word over and over again in a whisper under the screams.

Kinslayer. Kinslayer. Kinslayer. Kinslayer. Kinslayer. Kinslayer. Kinslayer.

Ayla woke up screaming, "NO!" Thankfully, Alyce was not around and she had insisted that she not have a member of the kingsguard outside her door, much to the dismay of Rhaenyra and Daemon. Ayla was covered in sweats, and kept trying to place the boys faces, but it was no use. She grabbed her journal from under her bed, a leather-bound one that her brother Rickon had given to her, and wrote down what she had seen:

Two dragonriders, one with brown hair and the other Targaryen blonde, in the rain, one dies, kinslaying, feels important, can't place faces

Ayla then closed her journal, and hid it under her bed, back where she felt it was safest, and went back to sleep.

She was awoken by the sounds of birds chirping and light shining through her window. Ayla did not want to bother Alyce, so she attempted to put on her dress by herself, which proved to be very difficult. Then, she heard a knock on the door, and the gentle but excited voice of the princess asking, "Are you awake Ayla?"

"Yes, but just a moment Rhaenyra, I'm having a bit of trouble putting on this dress..." But before Ayla could continue, the door was quickly open and shut, with Rhaenyra now in her room.

Rhaenyra looked at Ayla struggling and said, "I can help you know. I used to help Alicent, I mean the Queen when we were younger."

Ayla knew that Queen Alicent was a sore subject for her. She thought anyone would also be very upset if her best friend lied to them and started seeing their father behind their back and ultimately end up marrying their father. That was some high level betrayal from the Queen."Okay fine Princess Rhaenyra. May you please help me lace up this dress?"

Rhaenyra laughed, "Of course Lady Stark. It would be my pleasure." Rhaenyra went to work lacing up Ayla's dress saying, "I still can't believe Daemon had these made for you. He treats you, a friend, better than he ever treated his wife."

Ayla felt a little odd calling the prince her friend, even though he technically was, there were undertones of something more. "Well may the gods bless poor Rhea Royce in the afterlife. I think I would also die to get out of a loveless marriage."

Rhaenyra, who had finished lacing up the dress sat on Ayla's bed and said, "Well, you'll have to get married some day. Honestly, I'm surprised you aren't fielding proposals now."

"Well," Ayla started to explain, putting her sword belt on and Ice in its sheath, then sitting next to Rhaenyra, "most men don't want to marry a girl like me. I mean on all accounts I act like a proper lady, but I also went to the Stepstones to fight, and I have scars, and carrying around a sword is probably not very ladylike. Any offers I had were pulled once I went off to fight. Nobody really wants me now."

Rhaenyra blurted out, "I want you... uh here. And so does my uncle."

Ayla smiled, her cheeks turning a light pink, "Well, I'm glad I'm here with you guys at court. Although sometimes I do miss Winterfell. It's quite far for a visit though."

"We could always go on dragonback. Syrax is big enough for two, and I've heard stories that you're good with dragons." Rhaenyra knew this offer was slightly bold, but she felt confident that it would flatter Ayla. She also had heard whispers of Ayla's history of becoming close with women back in Winterfell, just to separate when they'd been betrothed, which along with her own experience, may have meant Ayla was also like her.
