Understanding the Story (i guess)

There was a problem with that house. A problem that led them to their demise. But for now, we must start at the beginning. The beginning started with a young couple moving to a small house in Long Beach, Washington. They were 20 when they bought that house and around 25 when they had their first child, which had been an accidental pregnancy. 2 years later, Marcus wanted another child, but Stephanie did not want to go through the pain of pregnancy again, so there was a compromise that landed an adopted child named Jackie.

With both Rosie and Jackie in their life, including job issues, they started having problems. Marcus fell out of love with his wife, and, for the children's sake, he didn't divorce her and instead cheated on her with their neighbor, Fiona. Plus, the apparent drinking problems he had because of his past. Of course, he couldn't change his past or control his abusive parents, but he could go to therapy for it, to find better ways to cope with the trauma. Of course, he denied this opportunity, causing even more marital issues.

Marcus would come home drunk and from the bar, mostly on rough days at work. It was just a few times a month, but it started getting worse. It was once a week, then twice a week. 

It was when Marcus was drunk when he didn't come home one night, so Steph went to find him and found him at their neighbor's house. When Marcus got home, Steph decided to confront him causing a verbal fight. Rosie was downstairs holding her teddy bear, Beary and Jackie was sleeping in his bed.
