Seokjin knew he had to face this soon, but he didn't expect it to be on the first day of his last year. He sighed deeply as he sat across Yeji and Hyunjin, both of them waiting for the older to say something

"How is Niki doing?"

Seokjin asked as Hyunjin smiled slightly and shared a look with Yeji, who mirrored the same expression as Hyunjin

"He has grown so tall, hyung. You won't believe it!"

Yeji shared excitedly, making Seokjin smile warmly as Yeji still had the same energy as she did before things went downhill

"And his partners turned out to be Sunghoon and Sunoo."

Hyunjin added, making Seokjin chuckle as he remembered teasing the younger with the two vampires

"That's good to hear. What happened between you and Yang?"

Seokjin asked the question he wanted the answer for. Hyunjin's smile dropped as the image of the Phantom prince, with his infamous dimple smile, flashed before his eyes. Yeji's smile vanished too, replaced by a look of concern as Hyunjin replied back

"We... well... father and mother didn't approve it. I was forced to break up with him. And his brothers forced him to be away from me too. And when we met each other again in NASF, father and mother decided to set my marriage with... Felix... ever since he got the news, he has been trying to do everything to get between the marriage."

Hyunjin explained, and this angered Seokjin. He didn't want Hyunjin, Yeji, or Niki to go through what he went through as a fresh adolescent

"What about Woongie? Do any of you have news about him?"

Seokjin's heart clenched in pain as the nickname slipped out of his lips. Hyunjin and Yeji looked at each other again before looking back at Seokjin

"He is here. He is safe. But hyung..."

Hyunjin trailed off as he looked down at his lap, feeling guilty and sad as Seokjin sighed in relief but tensed when Hyunjin trailed off

"What is it, Hyunjin?"

Seokjin asked, hoping something bad didn't happen as Yeji put a comforting hand on Hyunjin's shoulder, giving him the courage to finish his sentence

"Jiwoong hyung... he doesn't seem to remember us, or you..."

Hyunjin finished as he closed his eyes tightly, waiting for Seokjin to not believe him and scream at him for it. But after a few seconds, when there was no reaction, he opened his eyes and looked up to see the colour drained from Seokjin's face

"The price I paid..."

Seokjin whispered underneath his breath, but Yeji caught onto it quickly. She looked at Seokjin with a frown, confused and curious about what he was talking about

"What do you mean by the price you paid? For what?"

Yeji asked as she pulled her hand away from Hyunjin's shoulder and crossed her arms while Hyunjin was dumbfounded as Seokjin's hand trembled, the realization settling deep in his bones as he looked at the twins with empty eyes

"The price I paid for giving up my vampire blood. I didn't know what the price would be..."

Seokjin answered as Yeji's blood ran cold while Hyunjin's eyes widened in shock. The price wasn't what shocked them, but the fact that their half-brother was no longer a vampire did
