I packed up my stuff and walked out once Mrs. Denker gave permission.
Reese was waiting outside for me with a smirk on his face.
Does he ever not have that smirk on that face of his?

"Hey, you." He said, a flirtatious twinkle in his eye.

"What do you want? " I do everything in my power to not let him see how much that affected me.

"You're still upset, babe?" He walks closer to me. I think of taking a step back but being the stubborn person I am, I don't. I can't let him know he intimidates me.
He takes another step closer to me and smiles but I see a hint of worry in his eyes.
I look at him confusedly, wondering what the hell is up with him and why the hell is moving in so close to my ear?

"Save my ass one time, Astrid, I'll do whatever, whatever, you ask me to do." He whispers. To anyone else, he's probably whispering sweet nothings in my ear but oh well.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" I whisper back.

"Cianna to your 6'o clock." He says and then presses his lips to my cheek.
My body immediately straightens up.

I look around and my eyes settle on a fuming Cianna.

"You're so childish!" I slap his chest, hard but to anyone looking, it was probably like a cute stroke.

I smile widely and Reese's by relaxes a little.
"So, babe," he says in a patronising, sickly sweet tone, "wanna go out tonight?"

"sure, honey," I say through gritted teeth, "the new Chinese place?"

"Done deal!" He leans in to kiss me with a horrible smirk on his face and I push him away. I look at Cianna standing there still, watching closely.

"Oh, no. You're not getting any kiss till the date tonight!" I say.

"Aw!" He slings an arm over my shoulder and we walk through the corridor towards the library.

Problem is, Cianna isn't going to really move out of our way.

It's now more than 6 seconds since Reese has been touching me. Germ transfer starts now.

Dammit.

"Hi, Cianna!" I say cheerfully.

"Babe, let's not waste out time on her." Reese says quietly but loud enough for Cianna to hear.

"Oh, so now I am a waste of time?! What about all those times you-" she screeches.

"There, there. Calm down." I say with a sweet smile and step forward.

Two motives accomplished:
1. Cianna is pissed.
2. Reese's hold is gone.

"He called you. Past tense. He calls me. Present tense. If you ever had the time to attend second grade, you'd understand what I'm saying or everything is bouncing off your head." I say and although my words are harsh, I do not let my smile fall.

"YOU MISERABLE LOW LIFE!" she shouts and this time Reese steps in.

"Cianna." He growls, "You step over that line and I swear to god I will make sure you regret that decision."

Cianna's cheeks flush and after letting out an irritated huff, she walks away.

I stare at her retreating back with a sense of pride in me. I've never liked her and she's tried a thousand times to bring me down and a few times I slipped but as I watch her today, walking away defeated, I feel a burst of happiness.

"Hey, babe." Reese smiles down at me.

"Drop the act, Jacobs. Let's start the project." I give him a deadpan look and he mock salutes me.

Surprisingly, Reese bought a couple of videos that I'll take home and edit tonight. I give him my share of write ups and photos and then after an hour of work, we call it a day.

The rest of the day passes by in a blur until the last period when the principal tells us that we should skip last class and get the pictures done.

So we do.

Reese gets the gym covered and I go into the science labs.
Getting the real photos of real people will be better than the ones found on Google Images.

As I collect enough data, I walk back over to our meeting point. The library.

After going through all my photos and editing them I decide to not kill my time, get a good Chemistry reference book and go over some of my course work.

The problem here was, the book was kept too high.

"Need help, girlfriend?" A voice calls. I look towards my right and find Reese leaning against the shelf.

"Get that book for me." I say simply.

"Aye, aye captain." He says and tries to get the book without using the stool.

"Reese take the damn stool." I tell him.
Will he listen? Hell no.

This boy is more stubborn than Lucy and that's saying something considering Lucy is very stubborn.

I tried getting the book on my own but considering the book is too high up, even the stool won't help me.

"Got it!" He says with euphoria, like he found the secret tunnel to Neverland.

But in his excitement, his foot gave away and despite being a great football player and having great balance, Reese Fatso Jacobs fell.

Now, he didn't only fall.
He took me down with him.

I let out a groan under his weight.

"Astrid, are you okay?" He looks at me but doesn't get off of me.

"Kids, keep the volume down," the librarian calls from the other end of the room.

"I think I broke my wrist, Reese." The corner of my eyes sting but I gulp the ball in my throat down.

" Oh my god. Okay calm down." He gets off of me. "Let's get you to the infirmary. "

"No, I'm okay." I tell him and try to move my wrist a little but a snap sound comes and wince in pain.

"No, you're not. Shit, A. I'm so sorry," he says.

"Calm the hell down, Reese. It's probably nothing. " it doesn't hurt that much but just a little.

And that, folks, made me end up in the hospital with a severely sprained wrist.

Dammit, Reese.
