Chapter 2 - The Postcard

After searching for few minutes, Noeul found a ladder in the backyard. Even though he is scared of heights, he had no choice but to change the bulbs himself since he is alone. And he can't possibly ask Maa's help for that.

He put the ladder inside the kitchen and climbed on it safely. And finally, when he 'thought' he was balanced enough, he touched the bulb. And he tripped right then and fell.

Noeul closed his eyes and waited for the fall. But he doesn't feel hurt anywhere.. and he was starting to think Did I die? Am I already in heaven? But he felt the presence of a strong pair of arms and the warmth is starting to make him feel so comfortable. So he decided to open his eyes. He couldn't imagine what's going on at that time.. all he could see is the intense eyes of a handsome stranger watching him and he is on 'His' arms. It really feels like heaven.. He thought.

And suddenly he remembered where he is and what he was doing.. with a trembling voice he managed to ask "..Nugu seyo..?" And the stranger stays silent. With the fear rising, he asked again.. "Who.. Are.. You..??" No response again. And he started screaming! Thinking at least Maa would hear him.

The stranger closed his mouth with his wide palm. The silence went on until he heard Maa's voice asking "guys.. am I interrupting something??" Boss made Noeul stand on his feet soon. They both said 'Maa!!' at the same time.. and watched each other's face again..

Noeul thought.. So he knows Maa too.. and looked at Maa's face reaching for help. Right then Maa started chasing the stranger with the big woody spoon he was holding..

"Yaah.. what did I tell you?? I told you to not to make him cry right?? And you dared to scare him??"

"Maa.. you have misunderstood something.. let me explain neh.. Maa.. jebal!!" He continues to plead while running around Noeul's kitchen table.

And Noeul had no choice but to watch them going round and around.

"What's there to misunderstand Boss Chaikamon.. I just told you ten minutes ago!" Maa said again.

Now it's Noeul's time to get surprised..

"Jamkkanman yo!! What did you say Maa?"

Finally he stopped running so Boss stopped as well..

"Why my dear..? Are you hurt anywhere? Bian.. I should have asked that first before chasing this guy!!" He looked at Boss narrowing his eyes again.

"Aniyeo Maa.. I am okay. But who did you say this guy is?" He just couldn't believe this is happening..

"Oh him.. he is Chaikamon. Boss Chaikamon. Your neighbor. And my neighbor. Actually he lives in-between you and my houses. I told him to greet you. But I didn't expect that he would scare you. What exactly happened here?" Maa went on talking..

Noeul felt like the world is spinning.. That is Chaikamon?? The Boss Chaikamon?? And he is still here?? His good old best friend is still here? How did he become this handsome..

"Stop Maa.. there's some misunderstanding here.. Chaikamon is right" he managed to tell and glanced at Boss's face with embarrassment.

Boss was waiting for this moment while leaning back on Noeul's kitchen table..

"Oh now you talk.. I just saved you from the fall and this is how you two treat me? Ah Cham!! I should have just let you fall."

Boss said trying to play angry, while thinking this situation is really funny. But he managed to hide his laugh.
