CHAPTER VI
Madeleine's POV
It was six in the evening and I was deadbeat. Okay, I changed my statement; Shopping for clothes IS bad- especially with Abigail.
In the past two hours we had entered and come out of 9638274191036 shops, and we had a gazillion bags in our hands. The only upside was the pair of blue Chucks in one of the shopping bags.
"Okay last shop." Abigail said, pointing to a jewellery shop at the end of the road.
"Abigail! You've been saying that for the past 3 shops!" I exclaimed while placing the shopping bags on the pavement.
"No this is the last one, I promise." She said, making her best puppy face.
I sighed. This girl definitely had the heart of a 5 year old."Fine; but this is the last one."
"Thanks a lot Mom. We'll go and eat after this." She said, mocking me as she ran into the store.
I shook my head, grinning slightly at her retreating figure. The air was nice and warm and the wind blew often, lightly lifting my dress.
The sun was setting in the distance and the sky was a beautiful mixture of purple, pink and orange.
Abigail's dad came to drop us off, and my heart clenched vividly at the thought. Why wasn't my family alive when hers was? Not that I wanted her family to be dead or anything, but what did my family do to be killed by the Black Hawks?
Thankfully, Abigail still hadn't noticed that my parents were missing. I willed myself to stop thinking about them, as I tried to look around the place.
It was almost 15 minutes since Abigail disappeared into the shop, and I was starting to get a little restless.
Tapping my foot impatiently, I waited for another few seconds, before completely losing my cool. Just as I turned to storm into the shop, I almost collided with someone.
"Sorry." I said, dodging the person to make my way to the entrance of the shop.
"Hey, hey slow down a bit." Said a familiar voice.
I looked up, only to be met by a pair of familiar twinkling caramel orbs.
Caramel eyes that were unmistakably Ethan's.
"H-Hey." I said subconsciously tucking a strand of my dirty blond hair behind my ear.
"You must be Madeleine. I'm Ethan."
I smiled holding out a hand for a handshake which he immediately returned. He was wearing a marroon polo shirt along with a pair of white shorts and Vans; making handsome merely an understatement.
"I guess you have a thing for running into me everywhere." He grinned slightly, making my heart do those crazy somersault thingies.
"I guess." I said sheepishly.
"It's a beautiful night." He said looking up at the sky. Suddenly his eyes snapped towards mine. "Say, wanna go out for dinner with me?"
"Um- I- uh- I-I'm with my friend Abigail. She's in that shop" I said pointing to the jewellery shop behind him.
"No it's fine, I was thinking of going home at the moment. You can take her." Said a voice behind me.
I looked around to face Abigail, my jaw open as she smirked at me. Damn, when did she even come?
"W-what?" I asked, stupified. She was bailing out on me!
"You heard me, Madeleine." She smirked even more, if that was even possible.
