Stranger in my Eyes

I walked down an abandoned tunnel as the sound of my shoes hitting the surface of puddles echoed around me. I kept my hands tucked in the pocket of my black jeans and stared ahead of me, with my eyes blank and mind occupied. Earlier that day, I found out that my girlfriend, Tasha had been cheating on me with my best friend. I came home with a dozen of roses and a bottle of champagne, planning for a romantic night with her, but I came to a sight of my best friend thrusting into her body as she moaned his name. I dropped the bottle, horrified at the horrible scene before me, and stormed out to my car.

I went for a long drive, never stopping to get out to take a leak or fuel up on gas - I just drove. As the afternoon clocked into the evening, I found myself losing gas and eventually ended up on the side of the rode. So here I was, dwelling over the fact that my girlfriend no longer loved me and I didn't have a car and I didn't know where I was.

I sighed heavily into the nights air as a thin cloud formed before my lips then evaporated slowly into the bitter cold. I made my way out the opposite mouth of the tunnel and made my way down the road. A dark, endless road surrounded by a gloomy forest trees. The night seemed as lonely as I was but I was dealing with betrayal, shock, confusion, and fury. I was a dedicated boyfriend: I always listened to her rants, I gave her surprise gifts, and even when I got alluring looks from other females, I knew that Tasha was the only girl for me. As I replayed our past in the back of my mind, it somehow wrapped back around to her and Leon sprawled out on my couch. Oddly enough, I wasn't pissed off at Leon - I only felt betrayal - but all of my emotions radiated off in Tasha's direction. I had to figure out a way to force her out of my mind!

I saw off into the distance that there was a teal neon glow flowing from around the curve of the road. I furrowed my brows and quickened my pace to see what this light was coming from. As I came around the curve, what stood before me in the middle of the road was a closed teal door and neon lights streaming out from the bottom of the strip of the door. I got closer to the door and stood in arms length while the glow compelled me. I felt my breath sneaking away from me and I gasped for air as I gazed around myself. I was no longer standing on the road in the middle of the woods, but in the middle of the universe. Stars acted as a blanket around me, twinkling and sparkling like polished diamonds and after that was a deep chilly blue sky. Underneath me of where I stood was . . . Nothing.

I stared back at the teal door and out of curiosity, placed my hand on the silver knob that sent shivers over my body and turned it then took a step . . .

I was standing on a sidewalk. I frowned and slowly spun around in a full three-sixty to take in my surroundings. Hover-cars flew by me on the street and men and women were dressed in different forms of silver attire. The buildings stood tall and quite boring with glass walls that only reflected my image. It looked like something out of a sci-fi futuristic movie. Build boards floated on top of a few buildings and there was one that caught my eyes. There was a beautiful woman with multi-colored hair and chocolate brown captivating eyes with white lips and silver studs and violet eye shadow with black feather eyelashes. Around her was a teal light that created her upper-body silhouette. The woman began to speak in a silky melody and it was only her voice that I heard over the soft hum of the cars and the other voices that I heard swimming around me.

"Love is a blinding veil and one that tricks us into falling down a dark tunnel of bliss aloofness. Why go through all of that of loving someone when they'll only break your soul? Come visit X-trika and we'll show you how easy it is to forget." She winked and the screen blacked out. My eyes wandered down to the building below the build board and without thinking (or looking both ways), I walked out into traffic and in a diagonal line to get to the tall glass building with teal double doors. Cars honked and drivers yelled but it didn't matter to me. I had to see the woman, the woman who would make me forget . . .

I was standing inside a narrow, cold hallway with the scent of lust and heat. The doors silently closed behind me as I made my way to a counter with a gray man of his late forties and silver-bluish eyes. He looked up from the clipboard that he had been scrolling down the screen to read the names. "What do you want?" He asked in a deep, yet tiresome voice.

I opened my mouth to speak but guilt stopped me from asking this man of what I wanted and what I wanted was that exotic woman, but the thought of cheating on my girlfriend . . . Whaddya waiting for? A voice asked me, nudging me on. The whore betrayed you and fucked your best friend of ten years! Don't be a puss and chicken out now! The man cocked an impatient eyebrow as he stared into me. "I want to see that woman in the bill board." My voice was demanding and husky, my mind was set on seeing this beauty who would make me forget about that hussy.

His eyebrows shot up at my assertiveness but he nodded and handed me a teal colored card, "Door number five."

I nodded and pushed through the velvet red door and walked into another gray hallway with red velvet doors aligned both sides of the wall. I came up to door five and smirked wickedly at the neon five upon the door then swiped the key and the door slid open to the side and stepped inside. The room was painted a pure white with a silver chair perched before a large glass box with white curtains that hid a secret sight. I inhaled deeply and leaned into the chair, nervously tapping my fingers on the base of my knee. Suddenly the white curtains began to pull away from each other . . .
